།དེའི་ནུབ་མོ་བུ་བཙས་པ་དང་རྩྭའི་ནང་ནས་སྦྲུལ་གདུག་པ་ཡོད་པ་ཁྲག་གི་དྲི་ཚོར་ནས་བདག་བུ་བཙས་པའི་ཕྱོགས་སུ་འོངས་སོ། ས་ལ་ཁྲག་བཙོག་བཙོག་ལྟར་འདུག་པ་མཐོང་ནས་ཁོ་མོ་སྐྲག་འཁམས་ནས་ས་ལ་འགྱེལ་ཏོ། །དེ་ནས་སྐད་ཆེན་པོ་ཕྱུང་སྟེ་ངུས་ནས་ཁུ་ཚུར་གྱིས་བྲང་བརྡུངས། སྐྲ་ཡང་བལ་ནས་རོའི་སྟེང་དུ་འགྱེལ་ཏོ། །དེ་བཞིན་དུ་ཞག་དུ་མར་ཆུ་ལས་མ་ཐར་ཏེ། ཆུ་འགྲམ་ན་འདུག་འདུག་པ་ལས་ཕྱིས་ཆུ་བྲུག་པ་བྲི་ནས་བུ་ཆེན་པོ་ཚུ་རོལ་དུ་བཞག །བུ་འབྲིང་པོ་ཁུར་དུ་ཁྱེར། བུ་ཆུང་ངུ་ཐུ་བའི་ནང་དུ་བཅུག །ཐུ་བ་སོས་བཟུང་སྟེ་ཆུ་འབོགས་པ་ལས་ཆུ་ཕྱེད་དུ་ཕྱིན་པ་དང་། །དེ་ནས་རིང་ཞིག་ལོན་པ་དང་ཕྱིར་སངས་ཏེ་སོང་སོང་བ་ལས་གྲོགས་པོ་རྣམས་མི་རྒོད་ལྔ་བརྒྱ་དང་ཕྲད་དེ་བཅོམ་མོ། །དེའི་ཚེ་མི་རྒོད་ཀྱི་དཔོན་པོས་བདག་ཆུང་མར་བླངས་ནས་རྟག་ཏུ་སྒོ་སྲུང་དུ་བཅུག་གོ །སྒོ་སྲུང་དུ་བཅུག་པ་ན་རིངས་དྲག་ཅིག་བྱུང་བ་ན་ཚོར་སང་ཆེར་བྱོས་ལ་ནང་དུ་སྦྲོན་ཅིག་ཅེས་བསྒོའོ། Those mothers were also like them. We ourselves know that the five desires of the world are full of fear and faults. Why do we think of these as virtues? Thinking this way, they cried out loud. Then they came out and kept walking until they met the Bhikkhuni Utpala Varna. The Bhikkhuni asked them, "Why are you crying?" They said to the Bhikkhuni, "We are crying because what we thought did not come true." Utpala Varna said, "What did you think that did not come true?" We asked to be ordained, but we were not allowed to be ordained. Utpala Varna said, "If you like to be ordained, I will ordain you." The daughters of the Shakya clan were very happy and became disciples of Utpala Varna and were ordained. After they were ordained in this way, they all gathered together and said this: "If we had not been ordained, we would not only have suffered some pain, but our parents and relatives would also have been killed by the enemy. We ourselves would have our noses, ears, hands, and feet cut off, and we would suffer endless pain." Utpala Varna said, "What is there to say about suffering so much? I just didn't get ordained, and the suffering I endured cannot be described." The daughters of the Shakya clan folded their palms and said to the teacher, "Please tell us what kind of suffering you endured when you were not ordained." Then, the Bhikkhuni Utpala Varna entered Samadhi, and by the power of her superknowledge, she emitted a great light, illuminating the entire Jambudvipa. Because of the accumulation of karma and causes, she gathered gods, nagas, yakshas, humans, non-humans, and so on, and said this to the assembly of Bhikkhunis: "When I was not ordained, I lived in Shravasti. My parents married me to a man who lived in the north. According to the customs of the people in the north, when a child is born, they must return to their parents' hometown to give birth. In this way, they went back and forth for many years to give birth to children. Later, when one child was born, they went with their family, riding horses and other vehicles, to their parents' hometown. I slept by the river in Trokonpa (place name). That night, after giving birth, a venomous snake from the grass smelled the blood and came towards where I had given birth. It didn't come to me, but went to where my family and the slave were sleeping, and first bit and killed the slave. Then it came to the family, and I said, "A snake is coming!" I called out to my family, but they didn't hear, and the family was also bitten and killed. Then the horses and cows, all the livestock were killed. Only I escaped. The next morning, when I looked, the bodies of my family were swollen, and the ground was covered in blood. I was so frightened that I fainted and fell to the ground. Then I cried out loudly, beat my chest with my fists, my hair was disheveled, and I fell on the corpses. For many days, I didn't leave the river. Later, the river gradually dried up, and I put my eldest son on this side of the river, carried my second son on my back, and put my youngest son in my skirt. I held the skirt tightly and started to cross the river. When I was halfway across, I looked back at my eldest son and saw a tiger coming and grabbing him. The tiger opened its mouth and bit down, my skirt came loose, and my youngest son fell into the water. As I was about to scoop up my youngest son, my second son on my back also fell off, and all my sons died. Thus, one son was eaten by a tiger, and the others drowned. I reached the other side of the river, and my heart was about to break from the pain. I vomited blood from my mouth, and wailed, "Alas, alas," crying, "To suffer such pain in one night is terrible!"
