also generated Bodhicitta. Countless hundreds of thousands of gods and humans attained from the fruit of entering the stream to the fruit of Arhatship. Countless hundreds of thousands of gods and humans generated the Bodhicitta of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. When the Bhagavan had spoken thus, all the many retinues of gods, nagas, yakshas, humans, and non-humans, and so forth, departed with great joy. Furthermore, it is like this: In the country of Magadha, five hundred wild men living in the rocky mountains were constantly engaged in thievery, and there was no kindness between them. At that time, the king of the country of Magadha deployed four kinds of armies and defeated those wild men, gouging out their eyes, cutting off their ears and noses, and abandoning them on the desolate rocky mountains. At that time, the five hundred wild men were suffering from bodily ailments and were on the verge of death. Among those five hundred wild men, there was one who had become a disciple of the Buddha, and he said: We are not far from the time of death, why don't we all pray to the Buddha for refuge? Then, the five hundred wild men said in unison, "We prostrate to the Buddha Shakyamuni." At that time, the Tathagata was dwelling on Vulture Peak Mountain, and by the power of great compassion, he went to a mountain called Gandha, and a great wind arose. On that mountain, there was a grove of sandalwood trees, which was blown into powder and filled the entire sky, and the sandalwood powder also drifted to the mountain where the wild men were dwelling. The sandalwood powder covered the wounds of the wild men, and all the wounds on their eyes, noses, and bodies were healed, and even the blood turned into milk, and everyone said this: "We have been healed of all bodily wounds by the great compassion of the Buddha, and we feel happy. In order to repay the kindness of the Buddha, we generate the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete Bodhicitta." Having said this, everyone vowed in unison: "Those beings who have not obtained happiness, may they obtain happiness; those who have not been liberated, may they be liberated; those who have not reached the other shore, may they reach the other shore; those who have not obtained the fruit, may they obtain the fruit."

So! Furthermore, it is like this: The great compassion and skillful miraculous powers of the Tathagata are inconceivable. When the Buddha was residing in Shravasti, there were five hundred wild men living in the mountains, who robbed and did things against the Dharma. At that time, the Tathagata, through the power of skillful means, transformed into a man, riding a fine wool elephant, wearing clothes on his body, and carrying bows, arrows, and weapons. The wool elephant was also adorned with the seven precious jewels. He also adorned his own body with the seven precious jewels and went alone to the rocky mountains where the wild men lived. At that time, the five hundred wild men saw such a man coming from afar and said to each other, "We have been wild men for many years, but we have never seen anything like this." At that time, the leader of those wild men asked, "What do you see?" They replied, "There is a man riding a fine wool elephant coming. The man's clothes and ornaments are also made of the seven precious jewels. The wool elephant is also adorned with the seven precious jewels, and its light shines upon the heavens and the earth. Such a man is coming on the road. If we can catch that man, we will have wealth to enjoy for seven generations." At that time, the leader of the wild men heard those words and was very happy, and he deliberated, "Let us slowly approach him, and everyone should shoot arrows and seize him." Then, the five hundred wild men approached and shouted together, attacking him all at once. At that time, the transformed man, with a loving and compassionate heart, drew his bow and shot an arrow, and each of the five hundred wild men was struck by an arrow. They experienced unbearable pain, rolled on the ground, cried out loudly, and wept. They tried to pull out the arrows, but the arrows were very firm, and no matter how hard they tried, they could not pull them out. Then, the five hundred wild men were afraid and thought, "Now we will be eaten by demons and die." Why is that? It is very strange that so many of us cannot subdue one man. So they all agreed and said, "What are you among men? Are you a god, a Naga, or a Yak

Is it an arrow? Or is it the power of a mantra? One arrow shot, wounding five hundred people. Because the pain is unbearable, we entrust our lives to you, please pull out these malicious arrows. From now on, we will not disobey. Then, the emanation person spoke in verse: An axe cannot surpass a wound, among projectiles, a short arrow is the best. Youth is not granted by brute force, but much hearing will disappear. At that time, the emanation person spoke this verse, then transformed back into the body of the Buddha, emitting great light, illuminating all the realms of the ten directions, and the beings touched by the light, the blind were able to see, the crippled hunchbacks were restored to normal, those with incomplete limbs were complete, and the insane also regained their memory. In short, all that was undesirable became desirable. At that time, the Thus-Gone One taught various aspects of the Dharma to the five hundred wild men, and with joy, praise, and delight, the five hundred wild men, having heard the Dharma, were very happy, their wounds healed, and their blood turned into milk, and they generated the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and all unanimously spoke these verses: We generate the mind of Bodhicitta, extensively perform deeds that benefit sentient beings, learn the teachings of the Buddha, and constantly offer respect and service. Relying on the power of the Buddha's compassion, may we be liberated from suffering, and may our minds and bodies be at ease. May we remember the kindness of the Buddha, Bodhisattvas, and virtuous friends. Towards teachers, lamas, parents, and all other sentient beings, may we regard love and hatred equally. The merit of kindness is non-dual. At that time, in the sky above, the gods of the desire realm, including Indra, the lord of the gods, showered divine flowers like rain, and with divine music, made offerings to the Thus-Gone One, and unanimously spoke these verses: By our past merits, the appearance of light is supremely beautiful, with sacred offerings, we perform deeds that benefit all beings. We are very fortunate to meet the Buddha.
