我对父王说：“我想进入大海，去取珍宝。”国王听到这话后，就像东西卡在喉咙里一样，吐也吐不出来，咽也咽不下去，感到很不舒服，便对王子这样说道：“这片土地也是你的土地，仓库、财物和一切珍宝都归你所有，你可以随意使用，何必亲自进入大海呢？你是国王的儿子，生于深宫之中，睡觉有带帷幔的帐篷围绕，食物应有尽有。如果现在启程去寻找，遭受烦恼、饥饿、口渴、寒冷和炎热的侵袭，又有谁知道呢？更何况大海之中，障碍也绝非一个，而是很多。例如，有凶恶的饿鬼、恶毒的龙、旋转的漩涡、狂风的搅动和摇摆、水的颜色、山、鳄鱼、大鱼等等，障碍众多，即使成百上千的人去了，能返回来的也只有一两个，你为何非要前往大海，我绝不同意。”之后，王子善事五体投地，四肢伸展，向父王和母后禀告道：“如果父王不准许我前往大海，我就在这里结束自己的生命，绝不改变。”当时，伟大的国王和王后看到王子如此，目不转睛地注视着他，想方设法地劝慰王子，说：“王子，你起来，吃点东西，喝点水吧。”但王子善事不听劝告，说道：“如果父王不准许我前往大海，我绝不进食饮水。”国王和王后因不悦而悲伤，在王子面前哭泣哀嚎，倒在地上。就这样，一天不吃不喝，两天、三天、直到六天不吃不喝，父母更加悲伤，担心王子活不下去，到了第七天，父母将王子的手脚抱在怀里，

I said to my father the king, "I wish to enter the great ocean and go to fetch precious jewels." When the king heard these words, he felt uneasy, as if something were stuck in his throat, unable to be spat out or swallowed, and he said to the prince, "This land is also your land, and all the storehouses, wealth, and jewels are yours to use as you wish, so why do you need to enter the ocean yourself? You are the son of a king, born in a deep palace, surrounded by curtained tents when you sleep, and you have all the food you desire. If you set out now to seek, who knows if you will be afflicted by suffering, hunger, thirst, cold, and heat? Moreover, in the ocean, there is not just one obstacle, but many. For example, there are fierce hungry ghosts, malicious dragons, swirling whirlpools, the agitation and swaying of strong winds, the color of the water, mountains, crocodiles, large fish, and so on. There are so many obstacles that even if hundreds or thousands go, only one or two return. Why do you insist on going to the great ocean? I will not allow it." Then, Prince Good Deeds prostrated himself on the ground with his five limbs, stretched out his four limbs, and reported to his father the king and mother, "If you do not allow me to go to the ocean, I will end my life right here and will not change my mind." At that time, the great king and queen, seeing the prince in this state, stared at him without blinking, and tried in various ways to comfort the prince, saying, "Prince, get up, eat something, and drink something." But Prince Good Deeds did not listen to their advice, saying, "If you do not allow me to go to the great ocean, I will never eat or drink." The king and queen were grieved and saddened by their displeasure, weeping and wailing before the prince, and falling to the ground. Thus, one day passed without eating or drinking, then two days, three days, until six days without eating or drinking, and the parents were even more grieved, fearing that the prince would not survive. ་ལ་འོ་བྱས་ཏེ་ཚིག་སྙན་པ་འཇམ་པོས་ད་ལོངས་ལ་བཟའ་བ་དང་། བཏུང་བ་འཐུང་ཤིག །ཁ་ཟས་ཀྱིས་བསྡུས་པའི་ལུས་འདི་ནི་ཁ་ཟས་ལ་བརྟེན་པའི་རྐྱེན་གྱིས་གསོན་པ་ཡིན་གྱིས། མ་ཟོས་མ་འཐུངས་ན་ཁྱོད་སྲོག་མི་འཚོའོ་ཞེས་སྤྲོ་བ་བསྐྱེད་ཀྱང་རྒྱལ་བུ་མ་ཉན་ཏེ། ཡབ་དང་ཡུམ་གྱིས་བདག་མཆི་བར་མ་གནང་ན་ངེས་པར་འདི་ཁོ་ན་ལས་ནམ་དུ་ཡང་མི་ལྡང་ངོ་ཞེས་གསོལ་ཏོ། །དེའི་ཚེ་ན་བཙུན་མོ་ཆེན་མོས་རྒྱལ་པོ་ལ་འདི་སྐད་ཅེས་གསོལ་ཏོ། །རྒྱལ་བུས་བསམས་པའི་སེམས་འདི་ཤིན་ཏུ་སྤྱོད་དཀའ་བས་རྒྱལ་བུ་འདི་ཉིད་དུ་ཚེའི་དུས་བྱེད་པར་ཐུགས་བཟོད་དམ། ཡིད་དང་འགལ་བར་མཛད་པར་མི་རིགས་ཀྱི། ཐུགས་རྗེ་བར་དགོངས་ཏེ་རྒྱ་མཚོ་ཆེན་པོར་མཆི་བར་གནང་བའི་རིགས་སོ། །མཆིར་གནང་ན་གལ་ཏེ་བརྒྱ་ལམ་ན་སླར་འཁོར་ཡང་སྲིད་ཀྱིས། ད་མ་གནང་ན་གདོན་མི་ཟ་བར་ཚེའི་དུས་བགྱིད་པར་འགྱུར་རོ་ཞེས་གསོལ་ཏོ། །རྒྱལ་པོས་ཀྱང་ཐུགས་མ་བཟོད་ནས་འགྲོ་བར་གནང་ངོ་། །དེ་ལྟར་གནང་ནས་དེའི་ཚེ་རྒྱལ་བུ་དགེ་དོན་ཉལ་བ་ལས་ལངས་ཏེ་རབ་ཏུ་དགའ་མགུ་རངས་ནས་ཡབ་རྒྱལ་པོའི་ཞབས་ལ་མགོ་བོས་ཕྱག་འཚལ་ཏོ། །རྒྱལ་པོའི་འཁོར་བཙུན་མོ་དང་། སླས་རྣམས་དང་། མི་མང་པོ་བརྒྱ་སྟོང་སྙེད་གཅིག་ལ་གཅིག་འདི་སྐད་དུ། རྒྱལ་བུ་དགེ་དོན་ད་ལྟར་ཤིའམ་གསོན་ཞེས་གཏམ་ཟེར་བ་ལས། རྒྱལ་བུ་དགེ་དོན་ད་ལྟར་ལངས་ཏེ་རབ་ཏུ་དགའ་ནས་བཟའ་བ་དང་བཏུང་བའི་ལས་ཀྱང་བྱེད་དོ་ཞེས་སྨྲས་སོ། ། དེ་ནས་རྒྱལ་པོས་རྒྱལ་བུ་ལ་ཁྱོད་འདི་ལྟར་དུས་ཀྱིས་རྒྱ་མཚོར་འགྲོར་གསོལ་པ་འདིའི་དོན་ཅི་ཞིག་ཡོད། རྒྱལ་བུས་གསོལ་པ། རྒྱལ་པོ་ཆེན་པོ་བདག་ཡིད་བཞིན་གྱི་ནོར་བུ་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་ཆེན་པོ་བླངས་ཏེ་སེམས་ཅན་ཐམས་ཅད་ཀྱི་དགོས་པ་ཆོག་པར་བགྱིད་འཚལ་ལོ། །དེ་ནས་རྒྱལ་པོ་ཆེན་པོས་ཀུན་བཀར་བཏགས་ཏེ། སུ་དག་རྒྱ་མཚོར་འགྲོ་བར་འདོད། གལ་ཏེ་རྒྱ་མཚོ་ནས་སླར་འཁོར་ན་རབས་བདུན་གྱི་བར་དུ་བགོ་བ་དང་། ཁ་ཟས་དང་། ནོར་དང་། རིན་པོ་ཆེ་མི་བྲེལ་བར་སྦྱིན་ལ། རྒྱ་མཚོར་འཇུག་པའི་ཡོ་བྱད་ཅི་དགོས་པ་ཐམས་ཅད་ཀྱང་སྦྱིན་ཞིང་སྦྱར་རོ་ཞེས་བཀར་བཏགས་སོ། །རྒྱལ་བུ་དགེ་དོན་རྒྱ་མཚོར་འཇུག་ཅིང་ནོར་བུ་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་ལེན་དུ་འགྲོ་ཞེས་ཐོས་ནས་ཐམས་ཅད་རབ་ཏུ་དགའ་ནས་འདུས་སོ། །དེའི་ནང་ན་མི་ལྔ་བརྒྱ་ཞིག་བདག་ཅག་ཀྱང་རྒྱལ་བུའི་ཞབས་འབྲིང་དུ་མཆི་བར་གསོལ་ལོ་ཞེས་ཁས་བླངས་སོ། །དེའི་ཚེ་ཡུལ་བཱ་རཱ་ཎ་སཱི་ན་རྒྱ་མཚོའི་ས་མཁན་གཅིག་ཅིག་སྔ་ཕྱིར་ལན་དུ་མ་ཞི

于是用甜美柔和的言语劝慰道：‘现在起来，吃点东西，喝点饮料吧！’这个由食物组成的身体，是依靠食物才能生存的，如果不吃不喝，你就活不成了。虽然这样劝慰，王子还是不听，说道：‘如果父王和母后不让我去，我宁愿死在这里，永远也不起来。’这时，王后对国王说道：‘王子心意已决，难以改变，陛下是否忍心让王子在这里结束生命呢？如果违背他的意愿，恐怕不妥。还是发慈悲，允许他去大海吧。如果允许他去，或许他会在半路返回；如果不允许，他一定会绝食而死。’国王也于心不忍，就答应了他。这样答应之后，王子善财从床上起来，非常高兴，用头顶礼父王。国王的妃嫔、侍从以及成百上千的民众都在议论：‘王子善财是死了还是活着？’有人说：‘王子善财现在起来了，非常高兴，还在吃喝呢！’ 之后，国王问王子：‘你这样不顾一切地要去大海，到底有什么目的？’王子回答说：‘大王，我要去取如意宝珠，满足一切众生的需求。’于是，国王下令：‘谁愿意去大海？如果能从大海平安归来，赏赐七代享用不尽的财富、食物、珍宝，并提供一切入海所需的物品。’大家听说王子善财要去大海取宝，都非常高兴地聚集起来。其中有五百人自愿跟随王子前往。

Then, with sweet and gentle words, he consoled him, saying, 'Now get up, eat something, and drink something! This body, composed of food, lives by relying on food. If you don't eat or drink, you won't survive.' Although he consoled him in this way, the prince did not listen, saying, 'If my father and mother do not allow me to go, I would rather die here and never get up.' At that time, the great queen said to the king, 'The prince's mind is made up and difficult to change. Does Your Majesty have the heart to let the prince end his life here? It would be inappropriate to go against his wishes. Please have compassion and allow him to go to the great ocean. If you allow him to go, perhaps he will return halfway; if you do not allow him, he will surely starve to death.' The king couldn't bear it either, so he agreed. After agreeing in this way, Prince Sudhana got up from his bed, was very happy, and bowed his head to the feet of his father, the king. The king's concubines, attendants, and many hundreds and thousands of people were all discussing, 'Is Prince Sudhana dead or alive?' Someone said, 'Prince Sudhana is now up, very happy, and is even eating and drinking!' After that, the king asked the prince, 'What is the purpose of your desperate desire to go to the ocean?' The prince replied, 'Great King, I want to obtain the wish-fulfilling jewel and satisfy the needs of all sentient beings.' Then, the king ordered, 'Who wants to go to the ocean? If they can return safely from the ocean, they will be rewarded with wealth, food, and treasures that will last for seven generations, and all the necessary items for entering the sea will be provided.' When everyone heard that Prince Sudhana was going to the ocean to obtain treasure, they all gathered together very happily. Among them, five hundred people volunteered to follow the prince.
