Through the blessings of the Bhagavan, may we go to the world of Saha, make offerings and reverence to the Tathagata Shakyamuni, and listen to the sacred sutra of repaying the kindness of the Great Skillful Buddha. Then, the Buddha said to those Bodhisattvas: "Noble sons, after you go to the world of Saha, you should make offerings and reverence to the Buddha Bhagavan, and generate the thought that it is extremely difficult to meet. Why is that? Because the Buddha Shakyamuni practiced extremely difficult practices for countless billions of kalpas, and with great compassion made this aspiration: 'If I attain perfect enlightenment, in a sinful world, in a place with mountains, gravel, rubble, thorns, etc., where sentient beings are also full of afflictions, in that place where the five heinous crimes are committed and the ten non-virtuous deeds are fully practiced, may I attain perfect and complete enlightenment, and for the sake of benefit and happiness, may I completely cut off all suffering, be completely endowed with all happiness, perfect the Dharmakaya, and may I attain complete nirvana without remainder.' The Buddha Bhagavan initially made such an aspiration, so after you go to that world, you should abide as if the Buddha himself had descended and abided." After speaking, all those Bodhisattvas unanimously replied: "We will act according to the teachings of the Bhagavan." Then, each of those Bodhisattvas, surrounded by hundreds of thousands of billions of Bodhisattva retinues, went to the world of Saha. Wherever they went in those worlds, those worlds shook in six ways, and great light also appeared everywhere. From the upper sky, the gods rained down Mandarava flowers and great Mandarava flowers. Great light illuminated everything, and miracles appeared.

Caused countless worlds, as many as the sands of the Ganges River, to shake. Furthermore, countless hundreds of thousands of divine musical instruments, without being played, emitted sounds spontaneously. Those bodhisattvas arrived at Vulture Peak Mountain, prostrated at the feet of the Tathagata with their heads, circumambulated the Buddha three times, and then sat down to one side. At that time, the light of the Tathagata illuminated the southern direction, passing beyond eighty billion hundred thousand buddha-fields, revealing a world called "Merit Light." In that world, there was a Buddha named "Possessing a Name," a Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One, endowed with knowledge and conduct, Well-Gone, Knower of the World, Guide of Beings to be Tamed, Unsurpassed, Teacher of Gods and Humans, Buddha, World Honored One, residing in a buddha-field called "Extremely Pure Buddha-field." That buddha-field was very flat, the ground made of vaidurya, with checkerboard patterns drawn with pure gold, and seven kinds of precious trees grew there. Those trees were about an arrow-shot high, adorned with flowers, fruits, branches, and leaves. When a gentle breeze blew, they produced beautiful sounds. The various beings who heard these sounds would not tire of them. From time to time, there were springs, lakes, and bathing ponds, filled with water possessing eight qualities, and the bottom of the ponds was covered with golden sand. The four sides of the ponds were covered with fragrant lotus flowers, pundarika flowers, parushaka flowers, and other blue, yellow, red, and white flowers, the size of chariot wheels, completely covering the surface of the water. In that water, there were also various kinds of birds, emitting very pleasing and melodious sounds. In the ponds, there were boats made of seven kinds of precious jewels, and many beings played and enjoyed themselves to their heart's content. Between those precious trees, lion thrones one yojana high were arranged, adorned with seven kinds of precious jewels, and divine garments were laid out in order on the thrones.

The fragrant aroma of the offering incense wafted. On that throne adorned with a tapestry of divine flowers, the Thus-Gone One sat upright, in full lotus posture. Countless Bodhisattvas gathered before him, palms joined in reverence. They unanimously requested the Thus-Gone One, saying: "World-Honored One, what is the cause, what is the reason, that this radiant and splendid light, possessing blue, yellow, red, white, and other indescribable colors, shines from the northern direction upon us, this great assembly? All those touched by the light experience ease of body and mind. Out of compassion, please, World-Honored One, reveal the reason for this." Then, the World-Honored One spoke thus: "Noble sons, listen well and keep it in mind, and I shall explain it to you. From here to the north, beyond eighty billion myriads of Ganges sands of world-realms, there exists a Buddha-field called 'Enduring.' There, a Buddha named Shakyamuni, the Thus-Gone One, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened One, endowed with knowledge and conduct, the Well-Gone, Knower of the World, Guide of Beings to be Tamed, Teacher of Gods and Humans, Buddha, World-Honored One, is surrounded by a great assembly. All these attendants are teaching the sutras of skillful means for repaying kindness, for the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings, to completely eradicate the thorn of wrong views from all sentient beings, to ensure that newly aspiring Bodhisattvas never regress from the path of Bodhi and remain steadfast, to guide all Hearers and Solitary Realizers onto the path of the ultimate One Vehicle, to enable great Bodhisattvas to quickly attain perfect enlightenment, to repay the kindness of the Buddhas, to remind all sentient beings of the profound debt of gratitude, to liberate all sentient beings from the ocean of suffering, and to encourage ordinary individuals to be devoted to their parents, this light has appeared." At that time, in that assembly, a Bodhisattva, the leader of the great assembly,
