It was not for that reason that he came. The son of the gods, Nyen-ne (Tibetan: བསྙེན་གནས་, meaning "close attendant"), came with five hundred attendants and servants to see me, and I taught him the Dharma, and he realized the truth and returned to his own place. Then, those monks became doubtful, and in order to dispel all doubts, they asked the Blessed One, the Buddha: Venerable one, how did the son of the gods, Nyen-ne (Tibetan: བསྙེན་གནས་), come to be? How did he get his name? The Blessed One said: Monks, do you want to listen? They replied: Venerable one, we want to listen. He said: Monks, then listen well and keep it in mind, and I will tell you. Monks, in the past, in a bygone era, in this very Fortunate Aeon, when the life span of beings was twenty thousand years, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One, endowed with knowledge and conduct, the Gone to Bliss, Knower of the World, Guide of beings to be tamed, Unsurpassed, Teacher of gods and humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One, named Light Protector, appeared in the world and resided in the Deer Park at Rishi Speaking in the city of Varanasi. Later, King Krikī went to see and attend upon the Blessed One. Then, after a while, two Brahmins went to Rishi Speaking for some reason, and they saw that king possessed great royal wealth and royal power and strength. Then, the two of them developed a desire for the kingdom, and the two of them asked a layperson: Hey, Buddhist layperson, what should one do to achieve all that he thinks and desires? The layperson said: Whoever keeps the eight vows of the upavasatha purely, all that he thinks and desires will be fulfilled. Then, the two Brahmins took the eight vows of the upavasatha from the householder Chu-tod and kept them. One of them kept them completely purely, and then after he died, he was born as the son of King Krikī, and they named his son Lek-kye, and after his father died, he was installed as king. The other one broke the vows, and after he died,

Born in a dragon, upon it, like a single day, fell seven times seven grains of sand, Leaving only bones behind. Then it thought: What is the fruit of this? What fruit ripens from this? Therefore, I am experiencing such suffering. Then it thought: The eight-limbed vows I took, because of relaxing the precepts, I am experiencing such suffering, while whoever took and guarded them has attained kingship. Again, it thought: Now I must also keep the eight-limbed vows. However, I may also be freed from the birth of a dragon. Then, transforming himself into the form of a Brahmin, he went to the king's place, and upon arriving, praised the king, saying: May the king be victorious! May you live long! And said: Great king, I seek the eight-limbed vows, please grant me the divine eight-limbed vows. If you do not grant them, I will not beg for mercy, and the god's head will split into seven pieces. Having said that, he immediately disappeared. Then the king was frightened and afraid, displeased and trembling, and hung a vessel containing a golden vase on the top of the royal banner, proclaiming throughout all my lands: Whoever shows me the eight-limbed vows, I will give this golden vase to that person. I will also honor them with great respect. After a while, there was a carpenter's daughter, an old woman, who pointed to a pillar to the king and said: Formerly, my father always offered incense, fumigation, and flowers to this pillar, please pull it out and examine it. Then the king ordered the attendants: Pull out this pillar. Then the king's attendants pulled out that pillar, and from under it they found the eight-limbed vows written on a golden book, as well as the five precepts of a layperson, and the thirty-seven dharmas in harmony with the aspects of enlightenment. Then the king taught the eight-limbed vows to that dragon.

After writing, he gave it. The twenty thousand hermits dwelling in the place where the hermits speak also directly realized the thirty-seven dharmas that are in accordance with the path to enlightenment. That Naga also kept the eight-branched uposatha, was thrown onto the ground, abandoned his body, and lived by feeding on that. Then he died and, together with five hundred attendants, was born in the good heavenly realm of the Thirty-three. Monks, the uposatha came from that, and the name was also taken from that. After the Blessed One said that, those monks rejoiced and greatly praised what the Blessed One said. The Swan, so-called, the Buddha, the Blessed One, was honored by kings and, great ministers and, wealthy people and, people of the palace entourage and, merchants and, captains and, gods and, nagas and, yakshas and, asuras and, garudas and, kimnaras and, mahoragas. He was respected, made a guru, made into images, and offered to. Later, after some time, King Prasenajit of Kosala went to the Jeta Grove in order to see and serve the Blessed One, and the king of Panchala, Kosa
