། །The Protector, the Perfect Buddhas, do not show a smile without a reason. For what reason does the hero show a smile? For that, please listen to what most people say from you. The Blessed One said: Kungawo, it is just so. It is just so, Kungawo, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened Buddhas do not smile without a cause or condition. Kungawo, have you seen this girl showing such respect to me? Venerable one, I have seen it. Kungawo, this girl, by completely giving away the roots of virtue, the generation of the mind, and the Dharma to be given as charity, will become a Pratyekabuddha named Fragrant Emanation in the future. Her Dharma to be given as charity is what she has done with her mind and in between for me. Monks, therefore, you should train like this: tell the monks that you should respect the Buddhas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Shravakas. After the Blessed One said this, the monks rejoiced and praised what the Blessed One had said. ། །The one called Immaculate: the kings, great ministers, rich people, people of the palace retinue, merchants, ship captains, gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas revered, respected as teachers, made images, and made offerings to the Buddha, the Blessed One. The Buddha, the Blessed One, who is offered to and known by gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas, is endowed with great merit, possessing robes, food, bedding, cushions, medicine, and medicinal supplies, and resides with the Shravaka Sangha in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove of Prince Jeta, in the Anathapindika's Garden. At that time, there was a guardian deity of the Jeta Grove in Shravasti, who took a tooth stick and went to Shravasti. A fortune teller was also sitting at the gate, and he said, "Whoever eats this tooth stick, that person"

It is said that one will eat food with a hundred flavors. Then, the guardian of the Jeta Grove, hearing that, thought to himself: To whom should I give this tooth-wood? If I give this tooth-wood to that person, that person will greatly respect me. Again, he thought: This Buddha, the Bhagavan, is a field of merit in the world of sentient and non-sentient beings, bringing forth fruit. I should offer this to the Buddha, the Bhagavan. Then, the guardian of the Jeta Grove took the tooth-wood and went to where the Bhagavan was. Having arrived, he bowed his head at the feet of the Bhagavan and sat to one side. Sitting to one side, the guardian of the Jeta Grove said this to the Buddha, the Bhagavan: Bhagavan, out of compassion for me, please accept this tooth-wood. Then, the Bhagavan, in order to benefit the guardian of the Jeta Grove, extended his golden-colored hand, which was like an elephant's trunk, and took it. Having taken it, he used the tooth-wood in front of the guardian of the Jeta Grove. Having used it, he planted the tooth-wood in the ground. Then, at the very moment of planting it, in an instant, a great banyan tree with abundant branches, leaves, flowers, and fruits grew, its shade covering the entire water surface. The Bhagavan sat in its shade and taught the Dharma to gods and many people. Then, the householder Anathapindika offered food with a hundred flavors. Then, the guardian of the Jeta Grove, having his mind filled with faith by the Bhagavan's miracles, bowed at the feet of the Bhagavan like cutting a tree from its roots, and prayed: May I, through this root of virtue, realize perfect enlightenment. Then, the Bhagavan smiled. This is the nature of the Buddhas, the Bhagavans, when they smile. At that time, blue, yellow, red, and white rays of light came forth from his mouth, some going downwards and some going upwards. Those going downwards shone upon sentient beings in the Reviving Hell, the Black Line Hell, the Aggregating Hell, the Crying Hell, the Great Crying Hell, the Hot Hell, the Very Hot Hell, the Fire
