到來。日夜思念心裡不高興，到父親那裡去對父親說：「父親，我有一個請求，請您答應。」父親也說：「孩子，你說什麼，我就照你說的做。」父親以前外出巡視時，看到很多人為了衣服和食物而苦惱，互相殘殺、說謊、掠奪，做各種不善的行為。心想應該布施他們，父親就從大寶庫中取出財物，為了那些貧窮的人，隨心所欲地使用，父親說：「我積累了這麼多的珍寶和寶庫，都是為了你，為什麼不聽你的話呢？」之後，善財童子得到父親的允許，對所有村民說：「善財童子要行大布施，大家都來集合吧！」那時，沙門、婆羅門、貧窮無依的人、生病的人等等，在城外道路上擠滿了。他們也從一百、兩百、三百、四百、五百，甚至一千由旬的道路趕來。有些人從兩千、三千、四千、五千，甚至一萬由旬的道路趕來，像雲一樣聚集，隨心所欲地布施，想要衣服的給衣服，想要食物的給食物。 珍寶、黃金、白銀、་རྱ་（音譯，具體不詳）、麝香、車乘、交通工具、轎子、花園、田地、僕人等等，都隨心所欲地布施。這樣持續布施了很久，寶庫的三分之一已經耗盡，庫管對國王說：「王子從寶庫中布施，已經耗盡了三分之一，只剩下三分之二了，互相贈送的禮物和貿易的貨物該怎麼辦呢？」我因為疼愛這個兒子，不忍心拒絕，即使寶庫空了也沒關係，就這樣下令了。之後又過了很久，寶庫的三分之二已經耗盡，只剩下三分之一了，庫管又對國王說：「現在寶庫的三分之二已經

Having arrived, day and night he was unhappy in his mind. He went to his father and said, "Father, I have a request, please grant it." The father also said, "Child, whatever you say, I will do as you say." The father used to go out and patrol, and he saw that many people were suffering for the sake of clothes and food, killing each other, lying, plundering, and doing all kinds of unwholesome deeds. He thought that he should give alms to them, so the father took out wealth from the great treasury, and for those poor people, he used it as he pleased. The father said, "I have accumulated so many jewels and treasures, all for you, why wouldn't I listen to you?" After that, Sudhana Kumara received his father's permission and said to all the villagers, "Sudhana Kumara is going to give a great alms, let everyone come and gather!" At that time, ascetics, Brahmins, poor and helpless people, sick people, and so on, were crowded on the road outside the city. They also came from roads of one hundred, two hundred, three hundred, four hundred, five hundred, and even a thousand yojanas. Some came from roads of two thousand, three thousand, four thousand, five thousand, and even ten thousand yojanas, gathering like clouds, and giving alms as they pleased. Those who wanted clothes were given clothes, and those who wanted food were given food. Jewels, gold, silver, rya (transliteration, details unknown), musk, vehicles, transportation, palanquins, gardens, fields, servants, and so on, were all given alms as they pleased. Having engaged in almsgiving in this way for a long time, one-third of the treasury was exhausted. The storekeeper said to the king, "The prince has been giving alms from the treasury, and one-third has been exhausted. Only two-thirds are left. What should we do about the gifts and trade goods that are exchanged with each other?" Because I love this son, I cannot bear to refuse, even if the treasury is empty, it doesn't matter, so I ordered. 耗尽了。如果只剩下三分之一左右，就互相赠送礼物，或者做什么买卖呢？国王就此吩咐道：我的儿子非常受宠，无法拒绝，所以不忍心说。你好好想个办法，装作很忙的样子搪塞过去。守藏人从国王那里得到命令后，就锁上仓库的门，去办事了。之后，乞讨者们都到德顿那里去，但有时找不到守藏人，所以仓库的门不开。即使守藏人来了，也不会如愿以偿地给予，所以德顿这样想：这样下去，守藏人也无法忍受，即使有父亲的指示，儿子也会让父亲的仓库空空如也。我现在该怎么办才能如愿以偿地得到珍宝，从而利益很多人呢？想着，就问人们说：世间做什么事，才能得到很多财富，而且用不完呢？有些人说：如果好好耕田，就能得到很多财富。有些人说：如果进行贸易，就能得到很多财富。有些人说：如果去远方做生意，就能得到很多财富。有些人说：如果进入大海，取得珍宝，就能得到很多珍宝。德顿听到他们说的话后，心想耕田、贸易、去远方做生意都不是我的份。只有进入大海才是我的份。想着，就想进入大海。于是对父母这样说：我要从大海中取得很多珍宝，如愿地布施给贫困的人。请允许我去大海取宝。他的父母听到他说的话后，昏了过去，对儿子这样说：世间的贫困者没有智慧，所以才不顾身体和性命去冒险。你为什么贫困呢？如果你有这样的心，想要布施，就把家里所有的财富都布施出去吧。不能去大海，因为大海里有海浪和漩涡。

The king then instructed him: 'My son is very beloved, and I cannot refuse him, so I cannot bear to speak. You must find a good way to pretend to be busy and make excuses.' The storekeeper received the order from the king, locked the door of the storehouse, and went to work. After that, the beggars went to Dedon, but sometimes they could not find the storekeeper, so the door of the storehouse would not open. Even if the storekeeper came, he would not give as they wished, so Dedon thought to himself: 'If this continues, the storekeeper will not be able to bear it, and even if there is the father's instruction, the son will empty the father's storehouse.' What should I do now to obtain the jewels as I wish, so that I can benefit many people?' Thinking this, he asked the people: 'What work in this world can bring much wealth that will never be exhausted?' Some said: 'If you cultivate the fields well, you will gain much wealth.' Some said: 'If you engage in trade, you will gain much wealth.' Some said: 'If you go far away to do business, you will gain much wealth.' Some said: 'If you enter the ocean and take precious jewels, you will gain many jewels.' When Dedon heard them speak, he thought to himself, 'Cultivating the fields, trading, and going far away to do business are not my lot. Only entering the ocean is my lot.' Thinking this, he decided to enter the ocean. So he said to his parents: 'I will take many jewels from the ocean and give them as I wish to the poor. Please allow me to go to the ocean to take jewels.' When his parents heard him say this, they fainted and said to their son: 'The poor in this world are unwise, so they risk their bodies and lives to go. Why are you poor? If you have such a mind and want to give, then give away all the wealth in the house. You must not go to the ocean, because in the ocean there are waves and whirlpools.'
