Thus it was done. Then the Shakya people likewise entreated the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: I know the time. Then the Shakya people also prepared and arranged the implements, and the Blessed One, together with the Sangha of monks, went to Shravasti. At that time, King Prasenajit, who was in Shravasti, also welcomed the Tathagata with his retinue. The Shakya people also began to realize that the Tathagata was leaving, and the six teachers also followed behind. The Shakya people, with ninety thousand retinues and King Rupakaya and others, the kings and the retinues, filled the entire region of Shravasti. The six teachers also went there and said to King Prasenajit: The Shramana Gautama, we had agreed to compete in miracles, but when the time came, he fled and ran away. Now that so many retinues have gathered in the king's land, great king, please let us compete. King Prasenajit laughed and said: The qualities of the Blessed One are so great and inconceivable, why would ignorant and vile people like you compete in miracles with the great Dharma King? Nevertheless, the six teachers could not bear it, and were arrogant and conceited. King Prasenajit went to where the Blessed One was and prayed thus: The six teachers repeatedly urge to compete in miracles, please subdue them, Blessed One, please allow the distinction of miracles to be made. The Blessed One said: I know the time. King Prasenajit then ordered the ministers to clean the place for competing in miracles, sprinkle perfume, arrange many flowers and incense, erect a lion throne, decorate it with banners and umbrellas, and gather many retinues. At that time, on the first day of the first month of spring, the Blessed One went to the place for competing in miracles, and King Prasenajit arranged the offerings and food, and offered a whisk to the Blessed One. The Blessed One chewed the tooth wood, and the tooth wood

Trees were planted in the ground. As soon as they were planted, they grew, with branches and leaves flourishing, reaching a height of five hundred yojanas. The branches and leaves also covered an area of five hundred yojanas all around. Immediately, flowers the size of chariot wheels grew, and the fruits became as large as pots that could hold five *dres*. Roots, branches, leaves, and everything else turned into the seven precious substances, shining and blazing with various colors, even surpassing the light of the sun and moon. Whoever ate that fruit found its taste even better than nectar. The fragrance spread everywhere, and all who were touched by the scent felt happy and content. When the fragrant wind touched the branches and leaves, a very pleasing sound of Dharma arose. Everyone developed a very devout mind towards that tree. Then, the Blessed One taught the Dharma, which was in accordance with everyone's mind, and there were very many who obtained fruits and were reborn as gods. The next day, King Udayana invited the Blessed One and made offerings. At that time, the Thus-Gone One emanated two precious mountains to the left and right of his body, which were very tall, beautiful, and shone like the colors of various jewels. Various kinds of trees grew on those mountains, with flowers and fruits in full bloom, and very melodious sounds arose. On the summit of one mountain were fruits with a hundred flavors, soft and sweet, in great abundance, and many people ate them to their heart's content. On the summit of the other mountain grew very sweet and soft grass, and for the beings of the animal realm, he emanated them eating and being satisfied to their heart's content. The Blessed One taught them the Dharma according to their individual needs, liberating their minds, and they generated the unsurpassed mind of enlightenment. The number of those reborn as gods in the heavens was also very great. The next day, King Shuntsida invited the Blessed One and made offerings. After the Blessed One rinsed his mouth, the water from rinsing his mouth, when poured back onto the ground, turned into a precious pond, two hundred yojanas in circumference, adorned with the seven precious substances, shining with various colors. The water of that pond possessed eight qualities, and the pond's

The ground was also covered with fine sand of seven kinds of jewels. Various kinds of large lotuses, as large as chariot wheels, such as blue lotuses, yellow lotuses, white lotuses, red lotuses, ligun flowers, and maga flowers, etc. The fragrance of those lotuses spread everywhere, pleasing to the senses. The lotuses shone with light like the color of holiness, and that light illuminated the entire heaven and earth. The many attendants all gazed at that jewel pond, and they all praised it with great joy. Then, the Blessed One, using the belongings of the many attendants, displayed many kinds of Dharma, causing them to understand and realize. Some generated the unsurpassed Bodhicitta. Some attained fruition and were reborn in the heavenly realms as gods, and countless others accumulated merit. The next day, King Indravami prepared offerings and invited the Buddha. On that day, the Blessed One, on the four sides of that jewel pond, had eight times eight great canals, and the canals flowed back into the pond. From the sound of the flowing water, the sounds of the five roots, five powers, seven branches of enlightenment, eightfold noble path, three doors of liberation, six supernormal powers, six perfections, great compassion, great love, four immeasurables, and so on, all kinds of Dharma sounds arose, and from that Dharma sound, understanding and realization arose, ultimately attaining Buddhahood, being reborn in the heavenly realms as gods, and accumulating merit was also very abundant. On the day after that, King Brahma-given invited the Buddha and prepared offerings. On that day, from the face of the Blessed One, rays of light like the color of gold emanated, illuminating the entire great thousandfold world system. All sentient beings touched by that light were freed from the three poisons and five obscurations, and their bodies and minds felt immense happiness, just like monks entering the third dhyana. The many attendants were all devoted to the qualities of the Buddha, and the Blessed One taught them the Dharma, and they generated the unsurpassed Bodhicitta, were reborn in the heavenly realms as gods, and accumu
