Then all the springs and trees dried up. When three suns appeared, all the small puddles dried up. When four suns appeared, all the rivers dried up. When five suns appeared, the great ocean also diminished from before. When six suns appeared, two-thirds diminished. When seven suns appeared, the great ocean also dried up, and Mount Meru also burned until it reached the edge of the vajra. If someone with a very devout mind offers a handful of water to the Buddha, or offers it to the Sangha, or offers it to parents, or gives it to the poor, or gives it to wild animals, this merit will not be exhausted even after many kalpas. Therefore, it should be understood that the water of the ocean is little, and the water of a handful is much. Then, the sea god was very happy, and he gave that Upasaka many jewels, and also sent those precious jewels to the Buddha and the Sangha. The Upasaka and the merchants were satisfied with the jewels, and then returned safely to their country. At that time, that Upasaka and about five hundred merchants came to where the Buddha was, and bowed their heads to the feet of the Bhagavan, each holding jewels, and the jewels sent by the sea god, and also offered them to the Buddha and the Sangha. They knelt on the ground, joined their palms, and prayed to the Bhagavan in this way: We also want to be ordained in the teacher's teachings. The Bhagavan said: Welcome. As soon as the words were spoken, their hair and beards naturally fell off, they put on robes, and became monks. The Bhagavan taught them the Dharma accordingly, and later all their desires disappeared, and they became Arhats. Many retinues listened to the teachings of the Bhagavan and were very happy. The fifth chapter, the chapter of the Sea God's Questions, is completed. Sixth, the chapter of the prophecy of the son of the gods, Ganga-dhara. Second volume. Thus I have heard, at one time, the Bhagavan was staying in the Light Garden where the Kalanda bird lived. At that time, in that country, there was a very wealthy minister who had no son. At that time, on the bank of the Ganges River, there was a shrine of a god named Mani-bhadra, and everyone bowed and made offerings to it.

Then, that great minister also went to the deity's statue and prayed thus: "I have no son. I have heard that you, deity, possess immeasurable merits. You are the savior of all beings and are able to fulfill the wishes of others. Please save me as well. If you grant me a son, I will cover your body, deity, with gold and silver, and anoint your dwelling with incense and oil. If there is no obvious sign, I will destroy your statue, deity, and smear your body with impurities and excrement." The deity, having heard this, thought: "That minister is rich, powerful, and influential, a humble caste will not become his son. I am weak and cannot fulfill his wish. If I do not do as he wishes, he will surely take revenge on me without mercy." So, the deity guarding the statue prayed to Mahabhadra. But Mahabhadra did not have such power either, so he went to where the son of Vaishravana was and prayed to the son of Vaishravana. The son of Vaishravana also thought: "With my power alone, I cannot make him have a son." So, the son of Vaishravana went to where Indra was and prayed thus: "My minister, named Manibhadra, says to me: 'In Rajagriha, a minister is asking me for a son. If I do as he wishes, he will make offerings and show respect. If I do not do as he wishes, he will destroy the statue and make me ugly.' He has sworn thus. If you do not want him to break his vow, please, Indra, lord of the gods, grant him a son." Indra said: "This is very difficult, but now there is a way. At that time, there was a son of the gods who had lost five merits and was close to death. I said to him: 'You are certain to die, so when you die, be born as the son of that minister.'" The son of the gods said: "I have faith in renouncing and practicing the sacred Dharma. If I am born into a noble and prominent caste, it will be difficult to renounce. If I am born into an ordinary caste, it will be easy." Indra again
