之后生了一个俊美可爱的孩子。为他举行了盛大的诞生庆祝会，并按照家族传统给他取了名字。用牛奶、酸奶、酥油、炼乳和酥油精华来喂养他。当他长大后，学习了文字、算术、说唱、手算、减法、隐藏、分配、服装鉴定、宝石鉴定、珍宝鉴定、香料鉴定、药物鉴定、大象鉴定、马鉴定和武器鉴定。他精通文字，擅长阅读，聪明，做事干脆利落，心思正直，精通八种鉴定术。后来，他带着货物出海，乘坐海船成功归来。那位户主也依靠户主给孤独施食，对世尊的教法产生了信仰，皈依了三宝，并受持了戒律。之后，有一天，那位户主邀请佛陀等僧众到家中，用自己亲手准备的许多干净美味的食物使他们感到满足，并按照他们的意愿供养，然后为了听法而坐在佛陀面前。 之后，世尊了解了那位户主的想法、习气、根性、意识和本性，并为他宣说了相应的佛法。之后，那位户主和他的眷属，在座位上摧毁了二十座像小山一样高的有身见山峰，证得了预流果。他见到了真谛，并一次又一次地前往逝多林园，听闻世尊的教法。他一次又一次地想起自己的儿子，心想：‘唉，如果他也能来到这里，对世尊的教法产生信仰，并获得这样的佛法，那该多好啊！’后来，有一天，那位户主的儿子乘坐海船成功归来，他把货物放在花园里，为了看望父母，急忙赶回家中。而他的父母为了听法，去了逝多林园。

Then a handsome and lovely child was born. A grand celebration of his birth was held, and he was named according to family tradition. He was raised on milk, yogurt, butter, ghee, and the essence of ghee. When he grew up, he was taught writing, arithmetic, storytelling, manual calculation, subtraction, hiding, distribution, clothing appraisal, gem appraisal, treasure appraisal, spice appraisal, medicine appraisal, elephant appraisal, horse appraisal, and weapon appraisal. He became proficient in writing, skilled in reading, intelligent, clear in his actions, upright in his mind, and adept in the eight types of appraisal. Later, he took merchandise and went to sea, and he returned successfully on a great ocean vessel. That householder also relied on the householder Anāthapiṇḍada and gained faith in the teachings of the Blessed One, taking refuge and receiving the precepts. Then, one day, that householder invited the Buddha and the Saṅgha of monks to his home, satisfied them with many clean and delicious foods prepared by his own hands, offered them according to their wishes, and sat before the Buddha to listen to the Dharma. Then, the Blessed One understood the thoughts, habits, faculties, consciousness, and nature of that householder, and taught him the Dharma accordingly. Then, that householder and his retinue, while seated on that very seat, shattered the twenty peaks of the mountain of the view of the aggregates of existence with the vajra of wisdom, and realized the fruit of stream-entry. Having seen the truth, he went again and again to Jetavana Grove to listen to the Dharma from the Blessed One. He repeatedly thought of his son, thinking, 'Alas, if he could also come here, gain faith in the teachings of the Blessed One, and attain such Dharma, how wonderful that would be!' Later, one day, the son of that householder returned successfully on a great ocean vessel. He left the goods in the garden and hurried home to see his parents. But his parents had gone to Jetavana Grove to listen to the Dharma.

去了现在的园林后，听到居士的儿子说，父母为了听法，去了胜军王子的园林。听了之后，他也去了胜军王子的那个园林。去了那里之后，心想我要去看看我的父母。居士的儿子看见父母为了听法，坐在世尊面前。看见之后，就去了世尊那里，到了之后，用头顶礼世尊的脚，抱着父母的脖子，为了听法，坐在世尊面前。之后，世尊在那孩子面前说了能生起对无上正等觉之欢喜的话语。之后，他一听到那些话，那孩子就生起了对无上正等觉的渴望。之后，那位居士从世尊那里听了法后，和儿子一起回到了自己的家。回到家后，他们两人对儿子说：儿子，你从大海里给我们带了什么回来？儿子说：我寻找到了珍贵且价值连城的宝贝。父母两人对他说：儿子，你 去了大海里，经历了无数的痛苦，却带回了普通的宝贝。我们一直待在这里，却用很小的努力就找到了价值连城的宝贝。儿子说：那么，请让我看看你们用很小的努力找到的宝贝是什么样的。之后，父母两人就向他详细地讲述了自己的功德。之后，他一听到那些话，那孩子就更加地喜欢世尊了。喜欢之后，就去了世尊那里，到了之后，用头顶礼世尊的脚，为了听法，坐在世尊面前。之后，世尊为他宣说了适合他根器的法。之后，居士的儿子，知道世尊的话语已经说完，就从座位上站起来，将袈裟搭在一边的肩膀上，向世尊所在的方向合掌，对世尊这样说：

Having gone to the current garden, the householder's son heard that his parents had gone to Prince Victorious's garden in order to listen to the Dharma. Having heard this, he also went to that very garden of Prince Victorious. Having gone there, thinking, 'I will go and see my parents,' the householder's son saw his parents sitting before the Blessed One in order to listen to the Dharma. Having seen this, he went to where the Blessed One was, and having arrived, he bowed his head at the feet of the Blessed One, embraced his parents' necks, and sat before the Blessed One in order to listen to the Dharma. Then, the Blessed One spoke words to the boy that would cause him to generate joy in unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Then, as soon as he heard those words, the boy developed a desire for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Then, that householder, having heard the Dharma from the Blessed One, went home with his son. Having gone there, the two of them said to the son: 'Son, what have you brought back for us from the great ocean?' The son said: 'I went in search of precious and valuable jewels.' The two parents said to him: 'Son, you went into the ocean and experienced countless sufferings, but you have brought back ordinary jewels. We, while staying right here, have found precious and valuable jewels with little effort.' The son said: 'Then, please let me see what kind of jewels you have found with little effort.' Then, the two parents told him in detail about their own qualities. Then, as soon as he heard those words, the boy became even more fond of the Blessed One. Having become fond, he went to where the Blessed One was, and having arrived, he bowed his head at the feet of the Blessed One, and sat before the Blessed One in order to listen to the Dharma. Then, the Blessed One taught him the Dharma that was suitable for his disposition. Then, the householder's son, knowing that the Blessed One's words were finished, rose from his seat, draped his upper robe over one shoulder, and, with his palms joined, bowed in the direction of the Blessed One, and said to the Blessed One:
