After saying, "We will offer to the yaksha with this alone," they made a mandala with cow dung in front of that yaksha. They placed incense, flowers, offering rituals, and full vases, and holding sharp swords, they placed that person in front of the yaksha and made an offering. Then, that person also understood that he was about to be offered as a sacrifice to that yaksha, and he was very frightened. He thought, "Who else can I turn to for refuge now except for the Bhagavan? Who will grant me the gift of sparing my life?" Thinking this, he prayed to the Bhagavan in his heart: "Venerable Bhagavan, you see, know, and understand everything that has happened in the past, will happen in the future, and is happening in the present. Alas, Bhagavan! I am a miserable, suffering, and impoverished person. Please save me and grant me the gift of sparing my life!" Thus he prayed. The Buddha Bhagavan, the guide on the one and only path, who possesses the two kinds of knowledge and wisdom, who is skilled in the three close placements of unmixed mindfulness, who is fearless with the four fearlessnesses, who is liberated from the five realms of existence, who is skilled in the six sense bases, whose field of activity is the seven branches of enlightenment, who meditates on the eight liberations, who enters into the nine successive abidings of meditative absorption, who possesses the ten powers, and who truly roars the great lion's roar, by their very nature, three times during the day and three times during the night, that is, six times day and night, observe the world with the Buddha's eye, seeing: Who is declining? Who is prospering? Who is impoverished and destitute? Who is suffering? Who is afflicted? Who is impoverished, suffering, and afflicted? Who is inclined towards the lower realms? Who is falling into the lower realms? Who has fallen into the lower realms? Who shall I rescue from the lower realms and place in the heavens, liberation, and fruition? Who shall I pull out of the mud of misconduct by the hand? Who shall I transform from lacking the seven noble riches into possessing the power of the seven noble riches? Who shall I cause to generate roots of virtue from not having generated them? Who is virtuous?

One should fully mature the roots of virtue that have already arisen. For those whose roots of virtue are fully matured, they should be pierced with the sword of wisdom. For whom, one should enter the wisdom observation with the thought of realizing the world adorned by the appearance of the Buddha and its fruits. The ocean is the abode of aquatic creatures, and even the waves may recede at times. However, for those disciples who are to be tamed, the time of the Buddha's teachings will not be missed. Then, the Blessed One observed that the time had come for that bat and the five hundred wild men to be tamed, and understanding this in his heart, he manifested in the form of a deity from that very image of a god. Then, the five hundred wild men thought: The deity has shown us his body. So they made a "poo-zing" sound, sat with their palms together, and said: Blessed One, what is your command? The Blessed One said: I do not need offerings from people, give up these offerings from people. If you want the Dharma, give up the offerings and requests, sit down, and I will teach you the Dharma. Then, they replied, "As you wish," and those wild men gave up the offerings, bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One, and sat before the Blessed One to listen to the Dharma. Then, the Blessed One understood the thoughts, habits, dispositions, and nature of that bat and those wild men, and taught them the Dharma that suited them. Therefore, those five hundred wild men, while sitting on that seat, destroyed the twenty towering peaks of the view based on the collection with the vajra of wisdom, and realized the fruit of stream-entry. That bat also realized the fruit of non-return. Then, they realized the truth, and the Blessed One made the appearance of the deity disappear and remained in his natural form. Then, they saw the Blessed One and were even more joyful. After being joyful, they rose from their seats, draped their robes over one shoulder, and, with their palms joined together in the direction of the Blessed One, said to the Blessed One: Venerable one, if we can ordain and receive full ordination in the well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya, and obtain the status of a Bhikshu, then we also wish to.
