去往比丘尼的寺院，出家后，比丘尼们也让她受了沙弥尼的学处。也让她受了六法戒，当她在两年内学习六法后，想要受具足戒的时候，比丘尼们便让她受了梵行处的戒律，为了受具足戒而带到胜幢王子的花园里。她容貌姣好，美丽动人，光彩照人，具备殊胜的条件，是当地最美的，容貌举世无双。刚出生时，很多人都向（她父母）求娶，但因为（她父母）已经事先答应了居士，所以没有答应任何人。当她出家的时候，其他人心中生起（这样的想法）：如果她住在家里，我们是得不到的，但现在她已经出家了，我们可以随心所欲地享用她了，于是就围追堵截，心想用什么办法才能把她抢过来。有些人去贿赂比丘尼们，比丘尼们心想：现在我们把她带到胜幢王子的花园里也无法让她受具足戒，把她放在比丘尼的寺院里也不行啊，于是就把她带到父亲的家里，放在那里。之后，比丘尼们把详细的情况禀告了世尊，（说）尊者，我们如何让比丘尼法施女受具足戒呢？世尊开示说：那么就让比丘尼法施女通过差使受具足戒吧。以后如果再有其他外道出现，也会发生和这件事一样的过失，那也通过差使受具足戒吧。听了这话之后，比丘尼们就让她通过差使受了具足戒，就像经文里说的那样，要详细地讲述。之后，去往通过差使受戒的比丘尼法施女那里告诫说：法施女，你已经受了具足戒了，要谨慎精进啊！之后，听了这话之后，法施女就断除了一切烦恼。

Having gone to the nunnery, after ordaining, the nuns also had her take the precepts of a novice nun. She also took the vows of the six dharmas, and when she wanted to take full ordination after studying the six dharmas for two years, the nuns then had her take the vows of the place of pure conduct, and led her to the garden of Prince Jeta for the sake of full ordination. She was beautiful in form, pleasing to look at, beautiful, radiant in color, endowed with excellent qualities, the most beautiful in the land, with an unparalleled appearance. As soon as she was born, many people asked for her (in marriage), but because (her parents) had already promised her to a householder beforehand, they did not give her to anyone. When she became ordained, others had the thought: If she stayed at home, we would not be able to obtain her, but now that she has become ordained, we can enjoy her as we please, so they surrounded and blocked her, thinking, what method can we use to snatch her away? Some went and bribed the nuns, and the nuns thought: Now we cannot take her to the garden of Prince Jeta to give her full ordination, and we cannot keep her in the nunnery, so they took her to her father's house and placed her there. Afterwards, the nuns reported the details to the Blessed One, (saying) Venerable One, how should we give full ordination to the nun Dharma-giving? The Blessed One instructed: Then let the nun Dharma-giving receive full ordination through a messenger. In the future, if other outsiders appear, and the same faults occur as in this case, then also give full ordination through a messenger. Having heard this, the nuns had her receive full ordination through a messenger, and as it says in the scriptures, it should be explained in detail. Afterwards, going to the nun Dharma-giving, who had received ordination through a messenger, they admonished her: Dharma-giving, you have already received full ordination, be careful and diligent! Afterwards, having heard this, Dharma-giving abandoned all afflictions.

现证阿罗汉果位，此阿罗汉已脱离三界贪欲，具有视黄金与瓦砾平等、视天空与手掌无别的胸怀，如旃檀浸水般清凉，以智慧摧毁卵壳，获得智慧与神通，以及各别正知，背弃世间利养、贪执与恭敬，成为诸天及眷属供养、忆念与恭敬之处。之后，众比丘请问佛陀世尊：尊者法施比丘尼造作了何种业，以至于此业成熟，让她出生于富裕、多财、享用丰厚的种姓之家？而且她也令世尊欢喜，未令世尊不悦。她在世尊的教法中出家，断除一切烦恼，现证阿罗汉果位，仅以此为依凭，世尊便为比丘尼们开许了差事受具足戒。世尊开示道：这是由愿力所致。众比丘问：尊者曾在何处发愿？佛陀告诉比丘们：过去世，于此贤劫中，众生寿命二万岁时，出现了圆满正等觉佛，即具足明行、善逝、世间解、调御丈夫、无上士、天人导师、佛世尊，名为光守护。当时，在波罗奈城住着一位施主，后来他生了一个女儿，容貌姣好，令人赏心悦目，美丽动人，是当地最美的，姿色无与伦比。当她长大后，对圆满正等觉光守护佛的教法生起了信心，于是她请求父母允许她出家，但由于她是私自出家，因此犯了过失。世尊光守护佛便为她开许了差事受具足戒。当她以差事受具足戒时，便前往以差事迎请的比丘尼处，接受教诫，名为某某。

Having realized the state of an Arhat, this Arhat has become free from the desires of the three realms, possessing a mind that equates gold with rubble, and sees no difference between the sky and the palm of the hand. Having become as cool as sandalwood soaked in water, she has shattered the shell of ignorance with wisdom, attained wisdom and supernormal powers, as well as individual perfect knowledge. Turning her back on worldly gains, attachments, and reverence, she has become a place of offering, remembrance, and respect for the gods and their retinues. Then, the monks asked the Buddha, the Blessed One: "What deeds did the venerable Dharma-giver Bhikshuni perform, that as a result of the maturation of those deeds, she was born into a wealthy, rich, and prosperous family? Moreover, she pleased the Blessed One and did not displease him. Having renounced the world in the Blessed One's teachings, she abandoned all defilements and realized the state of an Arhat. Relying solely on this, the Blessed One granted the nuns the ordination through messengers." The Blessed One replied: "It is due to the power of aspiration." The monks asked: "Where did the venerable one make this aspiration?" The Buddha told the monks: "In the past, during this very fortunate eon, when the lifespan of beings was twenty thousand years, there appeared a fully enlightened Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, a Sugata, a knower of the world, a tamer of beings, the unsurpassed, the teacher of gods and humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One, named Light Protector. At that time, a householder lived in Varanasi, and later he had a daughter who was beautiful, pleasing to the eye, and lovely, the most beautiful in the land, with unparalleled beauty. When she grew up, she developed faith in the teachings of the fully enlightened Buddha Light Protector, and she asked her parents to allow her to renounce the world. However, because she renounced the world privately, she committed a fault. The Blessed One Light Protector then granted her the ordination through messengers. When she received the full ordination through messengers, she went to the Bhikshuni who had been invited by messengers to receive instructions, named so-and-so."

说：“你已受具足戒，要谨慎精进。”之后，那时她舍弃了一切烦恼，现证阿罗汉果。获得阿罗汉果后，示现燃烧、寂静安住、降雨、闪电的神变。从有余依涅槃界完全进入无余依涅槃界。之后，堪姆对她的遗体做了遗体供养，建造了遗体灵塔，用香、粉、香料和鲜花进行供养。一生修持梵行，临终时发愿：“如此我于正等觉佛光明的教法中，一生修持梵行，却未获得任何功德。愿我能取悦正等觉佛光明所预言的婆罗门童子，那位世尊。不要令我不悦。如同我的弟子依靠正等觉佛光明以使者授予具足戒一样，愿释迦牟尼，释迦族之王也能以使者授予我具足戒，并在他的教法中出家，舍弃一切烦恼，现证阿罗汉果。” 比丘们，你们怎么想？那时成为比丘尼的那位，就是比丘尼法施。她在那里一生修持梵行，临终时发愿：“愿我能取悦正等觉佛光明所预言的婆罗门童子，那位世尊。不要令我不悦。愿我在他的教法中出家，舍弃一切烦恼，现证阿罗汉果。如同我的弟子依靠正等觉佛光明以使者授予具足戒一样，愿释迦牟尼，释迦族之王也能依靠我，以使者授予具足戒。”

said, "You have already received full ordination, be careful and diligent." Then, at that time, she abandoned all defilements and directly realized the state of an Arhat. Having attained the state of an Arhat, she displayed miracles of burning, remaining still, raining, and flashing lightning. From the realm of Nirvana with remainder, she completely entered into the realm of Nirvana without remainder. Having practiced celibacy for one lifetime, she made a prayer at the time of death: "Thus, although I have practiced celibacy for one lifetime in the teachings of the perfectly enlightened Buddha Kashyapa, I have not attained any qualities. May I please the Buddha, the Blessed One, who is the Brahmin boy prophesied by the perfectly enlightened Buddha Kashyapa. May I not displease him. Just as my disciple, relying on the perfectly enlightened Buddha Kashyapa, was granted full ordination by a messenger, may Shakyamuni, the supreme king of the Shakyas, also grant me full ordination by a messenger, and having renounced in his teachings, may I abandon all defilements and directly realize the state of an Arhat." Monks, what do you think? The one who became a Bhikshuni at that time was none other than the Bhikshuni Dharma-dana.
