With discipline, good conduct, pure words, and these ten of karma and faith, a Brahmin should completely abandon desires and 끊 (cut off) (afflictions) with diligence. Without completely abandoning desires, no single Sage (Buddha) can attain (liberation). Those weak ones who wander everywhere, wander around because of afflictions, only by relying on steadfast diligence can they accomplish what needs to be done. No matter how many weak actions there are, as well as various afflictive austerities, and not completely pure Brahmachariya, do not think that they can achieve great goals. Just as holding an arrow improperly can lead to a hand being cut off, a Bhikshu guarding the precepts improperly will lead people to hell. Just as holding an arrow properly will not cut off the hand, a practitioner guarding the precepts properly will lead people to Nirvana. Not understanding practice, difficult to overcome, difficult to endure, and those who are weak and will regret, all kinds of suffering will arise. For those who repeatedly regret, are dominated by conceptual thoughts, and whose minds have not been tamed, how can they practice? Erroneous ordination, liking evil, those who live at home but commit evil deeds, and those who rely on unparalleled suffering, will only increase the suffering of Samsara in the end. Wearing robes, but mostly unable to truly guard the precepts, having a sinful nature, those who like sin, these sinners will fall into the lower realms. Just as vines entwine Sala trees, those who extremely violate the precepts, like treating their own enemies, want to do that. Even if their hair turns white, they still do not understand the teachings of the elders, it is only increasing age, and they are called foolish old men. Those who abandon good and evil, practice Brahmachariya, and practice alone away from the Sangha, are called true elders. Without asceticism, but lying, merely shaving the head, cannot be considered a practitioner. How can those who are ignorant and indulge in desires be considered practitioners? Without asceticism, but lying, merely shaving the head, cannot be considered a practitioner. Those who pacify sins, the wise know that they are practitioners. Without asceticism, but lying, merely shaving the head, cannot be considered a practitioner. Those who can carefully observe and correct both major and minor sins, those who pacify sins are

It is called practice. A Brahmin is one who has abandoned sin, and a renunciate is one who makes it peaceful. Having completely abandoned the defilements of oneself, therefore it is called renunciation. This is the eleventh (chapter) of the Sangha. When one sees the four noble truths with wisdom, and by thoroughly knowing this path, thoroughly cuts off the craving for existence. Just as the wind raises dust, and the rain falls to calm it down. When one sees with wisdom, then all conceptualizations will become peaceful. Whoever understands well will be able to end birth and death well, and will be able to definitely escape the world, that kind of wisdom is the most important. Among truths, the four truths are the best; among paths, the eightfold path is the best; among the two-legged, the one with eyes is the best; among dharmas, detachment is the best. When one sees with wisdom that all conditioned things are impermanent, then one will become disgusted with suffering, and this path will become pure. When one sees with wisdom that all conditioned things are suffering, then one will become disgusted with suffering, and this path will become pure. When one sees with wisdom that all conditioned things are emptiness, then one will become disgusted with suffering, and this path will become pure. When one sees with wisdom that all conditioned things are without self, then one will become disgusted with suffering, and this path will become pure. I have shown you the path that cuts off the arrow of craving. The Tathagata is the teacher, you should all strive. I have shown you the path that eliminates the arrow of craving. The Tathagata is the teacher, you should all strive. There is no other path besides this one that can make views completely pure. Abide in samadhi, abandon the bonds of Mara. This is the straight path, this is the path that conquers the other shore. Like a swan walking on a lake. Shakyamuni Buddha, after realizing quiescence, repeatedly taught these things in the Sangha, in order to realize the edge of birth and death, benefit beings, and with compassion thoroughly revealed this one path. Through this path, one can cross many rivers, and likewise, one will cross, and one can enable others to cross. In order to tame beings who are extremely in need of taming, in order to bring about the cessation of samsaric birth and death, and in order to...
