Having perfectly meditated, I gradually became completely purified, like the sun and moon without clouds, shining brightly in this world. Standing, sitting, and lying down, both body and mind are settled. When a monk well establishes mindfulness, he will obtain the distinctions of before and after. If he obtains the distinctions of before and after, the Lord of Death will not even be able to see him. Having established mindfulness of the body, and restrained the six sense spheres of contact, whoever constantly abides in equanimity, he himself realizes Nirvana. Whoever, at all times and in all ways, establishes mindfulness of the body, is without self and without grasping at self. He will not become a self, nor will he grasp at self. Thus, a monk quickly enters into samadhi, and transcends attachment to objects. Whoever abides in mindfulness and awareness, and with joy and supreme faith, practices this Dharma from time to time, will transcend birth and old age, it is said. Therefore, always rely on diligent practice, and a wise and mindful monk, having abandoned the causes of all births, will attain Nirvana in this very life. Awaken those who are asleep, and listen to the practice of diligence from me. Sleep makes diligence easy, and the diligent have no fear. Strive in diligence, and practice day and night, longing for immortality, all defilements will be exhausted. Whoever, day and night, remembers the Buddha, those who have gone for refuge to the Buddha, are the gain of humans. Whoever, day and night, remembers the Dharma, those who have gone for refuge to the Dharma, are the gain of humans. Whoever, day and night, remembers the Sangha, those who have gone for refuge to the Sangha, are the gain of humans. Whoever, day and night, remembers the Buddha, that disciple of Gautama, awakens through perfect awakening. Whoever, day and night, remembers the Dharma, that disciple of Gautama, awakens through perfect awakening. Whoever, day and night
