What is the end of the edge? What destroys this solitary practice? There are three kinds of solitary practice: the end of the seat, the end of the water, and the end of the food. The so-called end of the seat means that after eating, one gets up from the seat and does not eat again. The so-called end of the water means that after eating, one sits on the seat, takes water with a bowl, and does not eat again. The so-called end of the food means that when eating, one swallows the last mouthful and does not eat again. For the solitary practitioner, one can sit twice, thereby avoiding eating. The end of food means not taking anything small except water and medicine. Sitting twice to eat will destroy the solitary practice. How to correctly uphold the practice of contentment with food? If one eats too much, it will make the body heavy, produce a feeling of fullness, strong desires, and one will see the faults of not being frugal. At the same time, one also sees the merits of being content with food, so one says: From now on, I will give up excessive food and correctly uphold the practice of contentment with food. The merits of contentment with food are these: it does not produce a feeling of fullness, one can control the amount of food, one understands the disadvantages of eating too much, one reduces the burden on the body, one abandons attachment to food, one understands small harms, one correctly abandons all arising, it is the behavior of a noble person, and one has the virtue of frugality. These are the merits of contentment with food. How to grasp the amount of food? What is contentment with food? What destroys this practice of contentment with food? Use a small bowl to put rice into the bowl, carefully observe the signs of contentment, and be proficient in the signs of no longer adding food. After getting used to it, one will also understand the capacity of the stomach. Contentment with food is giving up excessive food. Exceeding the amount of food will destroy the practice of contentment with food. How to correctly uphold the practice of not eating afterwards? If one eats too much, it will produce a feeling of fullness, dependence on others, and one will see the faults of not being frugal. At the same time, one also sees the merits of not eating afterwards, so one says: From now on, I will give up excessive food and not eat after
