A rag-wearer is one who abandons sleeping. How does one properly take up the wearing of rag robes? Seeing the faults of seeking householder's robes, and of completely grasping, and of begging from others. Also seeing the virtues of wearing rag robes, abiding in garments, one says: From now on, I abandon householder's robes, and I properly take up the wearing of rag robes. Thus, one properly takes it up. These are the virtues of wearing rag robes: Being in accordance with the place vowed to be stayed in, not depending on others, not abandoning even if improper, not being particularly attached when fully using, being without craving, not being stolen by thieves, being untimely, having little defilement, having the manner of reducing possessions, being the conduct of holy beings, possessing the quality of making one happy, being seen by later people and followed, manifesting true practice, being praised by the Buddhas. Such are the virtues of wearing rag robes. How many kinds of wearing rag robes are there? What is wearing rag robes? What destroys the wearing of rag robes? Those that are cut, torn, eaten by cows, eaten by mice, burned by fire, funeral clothes, corpses' shrouds, marks of heretics, these are wearing rag robes that are naturally known to be despised by people. Wearing rag robes is abandoning householder's robes. Taking householder's robes destroys the wearing of rag robes. How does one properly take up the three Dharma robes? Seeking additional Dharma robes, and...

That is destroyed. How to properly uphold the practice of going for alms in order? If one goes to places where one can get a lot of abundant food, it is like noodles, and one will see the fault of not being frugal with utensils. One also sees the merits of going for alms in order, so one says: From now on, I will abandon giving food and properly uphold the practice of going for alms in order. So, the merits of going for alms in order are these: having an equal mind, having compassion for sentient beings, abandoning stinginess towards the home, having no fault in going to the home, not particularly liking to be called, not choosing good food, being completely liberated from attachment to people, completely abandoning sharing together, being a practitioner of frugality with utensils. These are the merits of going for alms in order. What is going for alms in order? What is abandoned by not going for alms in order? What destroys going for alms in order? The practitioner who goes for alms in order goes for alms in order from the first house to the last house. Going for alms in order is abandoning not going for alms in order. Not going for alms in order destroys going for alms in order. How to properly uphold the practice of eating one meal? These are the merits of eating one meal. What is eating one meal? What is eating one meal? Food
