They should be separated. For these, the wise should not make distinctions, and negligence should also not be cultivated here. Because negligence appears here like an enemy, it should not be cultivated. Those who are overwhelmed by negligence, whether gods or humans, will be destroyed. Therefore, it should be completely abandoned. Furthermore, the fifth fault of those who are negligent is: This refers to trusting only those things that have become a place of fear. Just as with women, there is nothing else that is both a place of fear and not trustworthy. Evil men who are controlled by negligence will develop trust in those very things, and they will conceal in their hearts those whom they do not trust, until death. Just as heat is born together with fire, women also have faults such as deception, desire, hypocrisy, jealousy, resentment, arrogance, bad reputation, wrong views, and confused minds, which are born together with women. Evil men who are completely led by negligence are destroyed by mere words, and then they trust them. They completely confuse and awaken the mind. Therefore, in short, those who follow negligence have five great faults. If distinguished in detail, they become limitless. Therefore, whether gods or humans, they should completely abandon negligence with the greatest effort, for they are the closed door to Nirvana. For example: Cultivating, practicing, and repeatedly engaging in negligence leads to falling into hell. Those who cultivate negligence will also be reborn as pretas or animals. Those who abide in diligence have these five qualities, and the diligent are praised. What are the five? For example: behavior will be completely restrained, and wisdom...

Oh, perfectly abiding, acting, placing the mind equally, benefiting with one heart, and like poison, completely abandoning negligence. He fully knows the three aspects. This is the first merit of those who rejoice in diligence. Furthermore, there is a second merit for those who rejoice in diligence. What is this? It is like this: fully knowing the weight of all actions. He relies on the noble man, and knowing the fruits of actions, he acts. He does not rely on a non-noble man. He does not do inferior deeds. He completely abandons whatever is always condemned and from which faults are seen. He closely relies on those from whom virtues are seen. Evil does not arise in those who possess virtues and the wise who know virtues. Furthermore, there is a third merit of having abandoned negligence and practicing diligence. What is this? Thus, even at the end of life, he will not be dominated by women. Nor does he believe in words. He always discerns according to its nature. What binds the two worlds is also because they are women, thus, he will not be deceived by reason. Nor does he believe in words. He discerns separately as it is, as it truly is. His dance, song, laughter, posture, and ornaments do not completely seduce. Diligent ones and men who have become diligent do not do other such places of negligence. His retinue will also be reduced, that is, those who are not completely seduced by the negligence of women. He also causes others to abandon negligence and proclaims diligence. Furthermore, there is a fourth merit of diligence. What is this? It is like this: the diligent one is not for enjoyment, nor for desires. He breathes a hundred times, but does not always keep it in mind. Nor does he contemplate with the mind. How to desire

English

Those are not places of permanence, stability, and trust; these are of the nature of deteriorating to the ultimate end and being utterly destroyed very quickly. Likewise, the cautious never place trust in being without illness, for all those without illness are overcome by illness. Likewise, one should never place trust in youth, for all these youths will be approached and overcome by old age, so one should not be satisfied with youth, nor become arrogant, nor be satisfied with being alive, nor be complacent, nor be lazy. Why is that? Because one will be robbed by the Lord of Death at any time. Therefore, those who act cautiously do not trust. If one becomes careless with conditioned phenomena, then becoming cautious has five other qualities, namely: one becomes learned, one follows the noble ones, one becomes exceedingly delighted in wisdom, one becomes of the nature of distinguishing the Three Jewels, and one becomes skilled in analyzing the meaning of things one has not heard. Thus, one always knows the time of the Lord of Death, and one thoroughly understands the causes of suffering and death. Among them, the causes of the death and rebirth of the gods are known through the meaning of hearing. One also knows the causes of the death of a person and the various causes of his falling into the lower realms, such as how will I fall into the lower realms? One also fully understands those actions that should be abandoned. To this, the mind is very pleased. Merely generating that mind will cause those causes of falling into the lower realms to disappear, and the causes of good rebirth will also arise. Those most excellent fruits are caution. Even among all the bonds of the most extreme suffering, it is the most excellent fruit. Those are the five faults of carelessness and the five qualities of caution. Then, at that time, Dusang said: Samsara is destroyed.
