Vajra Intelligence, when that Bhagavan, the Tathagata "Always Emitting Light," became a Bodhisattva, as soon as he entered his mother's womb, while he was dwelling in his mother's womb, light arose from his body, and to the east, it constantly illuminated hundreds of thousands of worlds, as many as the atoms in ten Buddhafields. Similarly, to the south, west, north, southeast, southwest, northwest, northeast, below, above, and in the ten directions, light constantly illuminated hundreds of thousands of worlds, as many as the atoms in ten Buddhafields. The light from that Bodhisattva's body was delightful, supremely pleasing, and satisfying, constantly illuminating those hundreds of thousands of worlds. Those who were touched by that light, as soon as they were touched, all of them obtained forbearance of the law of non-arising. They also obtained the dharani called "Chapter of Five Hundred Merits." When the bodhisattva was dwelling in the womb of his mother, whatever billions of worlds were touched by the light of his body, all of them were completely established as being made of vaidurya. They were painted with rainbow patterns of golden threads, and from all the rainbow patterns emerged jewel trees with flowers, fruits, fragrances, and colors. When those jewel trees were moved by the wind and swayed by the wind, it was like this: the sound of the Buddha, the sound of the Dharma, the sound of the Sangha, the sound of the Bodhisattva, the power of the Bodhisattva, the faculties, the limbs of enlightenment, liberation, samadhi, and the sound of absorption, pleasant and delightful, appeared like this. The sound of the jewel trees also caused all the beings in those billions of worlds to obtain joy and supreme joy and abide. In all those Buddha-fields, there were no hells for sentient beings, no places of animal birth, no realms of Yama, and no classes of Asuras. The bodhisattva dwelling in his mother's womb also appeared to all those sentient beings like the disc of the moon. While dwelling in the womb, he performed the act of joining his palms three times during the day and three times during the night. Vajra Wisdom, thus, from the time that bodhisattva was born, manifested, and until he attained complete and perfect enlightenment, light always emanated from the body of that bodhisattva. Even after attaining complete and perfect enlightenment, light always emanated from the body of that Bhagavan. In the same way, until the time of his complete passing into nirvana, the light of the body of that Bhagavan always emanated.
