and thus be completely liberated from suffering. This is the meaning of the non-leaking truth, which is uncommon to ordinary beings, and the dharani mantra that accords with it. What, then, is the meaning of the dharani mantra that accords with the truth, which is common to ordinary beings and uncommon to ordinary beings? For example, he thinks to himself: "Whatever form is contemplated, only that is seen." The mind is the mind itself and the form itself. Therefore, I should not contemplate the purity of the sky. He wants to abandon all forms. Thus, having abandoned all perceptions of form, he thinks, "This is infinite space," and thus abides in the sphere of infinite space, having perfected it. This is the samadhi that is common to ordinary beings. Furthermore, he thinks to himself: "My form is space. I see space as form." What is the characteristic of space? Space is the characteristic of openness. However, space is pervaded by wind. That wind is also composed of the four great elements. My form is also composed of the four great elements. The two have the same characteristics. He thinks to himself: "Are these elements the nature of the four great elements?" He thinks to himself: "The two are not elements of a common characteristic." Why? Because all phenomena are empty of their own nature. Similarly, one's own nature is also empty of other things, unproduced, unceasing, unarisen, and without a basis. When he thus individually contemplates, the Thus-Gone One comes to mind. He sees one Thus-Gone One in all of space. By seeing thus, he attains the fruit of non-returning. This is the first sphere of liberation from the dharani mantra that accords with the truth, which is common to ordinary beings. Furthermore, he thinks to himself: "Is that which abides in this sphere of infinite space the nature of one's own nature? Or is it space itself?" He thinks to himself

E! The nature of space being pure is my self, but it is not the nature of my own essence. Thinking like this, however much one contemplates the infinite and boundless space, that much one truly knows oneself. This is the samadhi common to ordinary beings. Then he thinks like this: If all space is my self, then does space have another essence? When one remembers the Tathagatas, how did the Tathagatas teach? In this way, however many Tathagatas one remembers, that many one truly sees accordingly. In the moment of seeing, some abide in the first fruit, and from there up to the state of Arhat who has abandoned all defilements, they manifest it. This is the second birth place, common to ordinary beings, liberated from the dharani mantras that are in accordance with the truth. Again, he thinks like this: How much of the pure, extremely clear, and stainless space is my self? Is my virtuous mind, which has abandoned all defilements, without a basis? He thinks like this: The great light-making, the eightfold noble path, is liberation from all defilements. Just as he remembers the eightfold noble path that is liberated from all defilements, in that very instant, some abide in the fruit of stream-entry, and from there up to some manifesting the state of Arhat. This is the third birth place, common to ordinary beings, liberated from the dharani mantras that are in accordance with the truth. Furthermore, he thinks like this: Thus, my thoughts are all in vain, because I should not abide by discriminating about form. Wherever there is form, there are different perceptions. There, there is the perception of obstruction. There, there is old age and death, therefore I cultivate the mind in order to cut off old age and death. I also believe in the perception of space. Again, he contemplates the perception of space and truly knows it, he diligently practices it, he believes in it, that space is very complete.

For all these purities, one manifests, believes in, and dwells completely, this is a Dharani mantra that is common to ordinary beings and is true and in accordance with it. This is common to ordinary beings. Furthermore, he thinks thus: This is my self that is very pure, therefore it still uses all my discriminations in all the skies. By means of my self, I shall contemplate the sky. I think my consciousness is the sky. However, all consciousness is said to be the sound of suffering, this is the arising, cessation, and pacification of all suffering. Whoever correctly sees the cessation of suffering and arising, at that time, some abide in the fruit of stream-entry, some abide up to the state of Arhatship, this is the fourth birth-place liberated from the Dharani mantra that is common to ordinary beings and is true and in accordance with it. Furthermore, he thinks thus: Then, in order to practice the sky, one should abide many times. Because all the sky is my self, one should believe in the sky. One should completely seek consciousness, thus, as much as the sky is, his consciousness appears equally. He also abandons the consciousness of the sky, and all the consciousness of as much as the infinite and boundless sky universally appears, this is a Dharani mantra that is common to ordinary beings and is true and in accordance with it. Abiding in this, he thinks thus: This consciousness of my consciousness is discrimination, suffering, and arising, up to the very perversion of consciousness. However, my perversion should be negated. In the stage of recollecting from suffering to cessation, some abide in the first fruit, some abide up to the state of Arhatship, this is the fifth birth-place liberated from the Dharani mantra that is common to ordinary beings and is true and in accordance with it. He thinks thus: My consciousness
