Manifesting as true. Why does it appear as true in the realm of colors like crystal? He thinks to himself: All of these are tricks of the mind, so they are empty and false; everything is a manifestation of the mind. Whoever knows this is a place of giving for all the world and is worthy of offerings. The meaning of Kauṇḍinya is that, apart from the intention of not delighting in appearances and the intention of not being suited to food, there is no desire and it is the meaning of endurance in accordance with it. The Tathāgata, King of Wisdom and Auspicious Accumulation, entrusted it to me. To this, the Bodhisattva Good Heart of Wisdom asked: Venerable Lord, if a Śrāvaka with the intention of peaceful abiding meditates in this way, he is practicing the contemplation of impurity. What signs will appear there? The Blessed One said: Whoever practices the contemplation of impurity in order to eliminate desire should immediately focus his mind. These signs will appear: As long as he discriminates with an impure mind, his whole body will shake and be universally afflicted. This is his first inner sign. As long as he meditates again and again, he will think of every part of his own body in this way: as if touched by rough cloth, this is his second sign. Moreover, if he meditates outwardly without distraction, his whole body will become completely calm, as if his whole body were smeared with milk, this is the sign of his one-pointedness of mind in peaceful abiding. He also abandons joy and happiness in a signless manner. In order to completely purify his discernment, if the mind is defiled by desire and wisdom is defiled by ignorance and becomes pure, then he will discriminate from recognizing the painful aspect of the whole body as a heap of bones to the aspect of peace. Similarly, warmth will arise from his whole body, this is the perfection of his peaceful abiding. The root of virtue transformed into warmth and, before

Through entering boundless bliss, the mind will become completely purified. One will truly know as if oneself has become a deity. Moreover, by individually contemplating the heap of bones in four ways, one will see the flame of a lamp in front of oneself. In order to completely transcend ignorance, by repeatedly and constantly contemplating one's own heap of bones in four ways, one will not see the destruction of the mind and mental phenomena. Thus, wandering and not abiding, one wanders like dust in sunlight. Just as all conditioned things are seen with supreme awareness, so too, regarding all conditioned dharmas, from what is called selflessness to the dharma of cessation, one knows them as they truly are. That is when one obtains the root of virtue at its peak. Furthermore, one truly sees the fire on one's own body extinguished and completely blazing. One truly sees the great light shining in all directions. That is the path of the first dhyana ground. Likewise, the roots of virtue that operate in form and the great elements that operate in form will be obtained. Similarly, the great bliss that operates in form will pervade the entire body. Likewise, rays of sunlight will also arise from his heart. Wherever one sees or contemplates with the mind, one sees that it is pervaded by the rays of the sun's mandala. One should also meditate on those rays in a manner without longing. At that time, he has a mind without longing for all three realms of existence. At that time, he dwells diligently in emptiness, without focusing on the four noble truths in a uniform manner. Warmth also arises from his entire body. Warmth of various colors also arises from the crown of his head. This appearance of an umbrella above the crown of his head is the root of virtue at its peak. Moreover, one should completely contemplate tolerance that accords with the truth in a non-attached manner. At that time, one will realize the four noble truths. This son of good family is a Shravaka who meditates on impurity.

Yes. If one cultivates the contemplation of impurity intensely, one will attain calm abiding. In that case, these signs will appear: through those signs and such faith, one will abide within the eightfold noble path, abandon all afflictions, and be able to touch the state of an arhat. Son of good family, therefore, you should teach such mindfulness to individuals of the Hearer Vehicle in the Buddha-field that is victorious through rays of light. When this teaching of impurity was taught, countless sentient beings there obtained the tolerance that accords with the truth, and countless sentient beings there realized the truth. Then, the Bhagavan further spoke to Ajnata Kaundinya, saying: Kaundinya, if everything becomes of one manner and one thought, then one should teach sentient beings the one dharma that will cause the mind to be completely liberated from the outflows. As long as the mind has not become completely pacified, it will continuously bring about the results of existence, diseases, suffering, and various rebirths, and engage in various migrations, therefore, I should gather my own mind, and I must grasp the signs of the mind, and contemplate how this heap of bones generates the aggregation of the mind, this is the first stage of obtaining the faultless higher mind, that is, one has obtained the non-inferior. One will abide happily in the present dharma, and will become non-returning. Furthermore, he thinks thus: through which causes, those causes that produce the cause of the aggregation of the mind are gathered, and are gathered in a destructive manner, this is the second faultless attainment of abiding happily in the present dharma with the higher mind, that is, one has obtained the non-inferior, and has obtained it without difficulty. Furthermore, he thinks thus: as long as my mind is still running on the cause of the aggregation of conditions, it will abide intoxicated by the bliss of body and mind, therefore, I must make the bliss of body and mind disappear, therefore, he learns thus separately and correctly: this cause of the aggregation of my faults...
