In order to realize the wisdom of omniscience as it is, one teaches the Dharma to others. The Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, with a few precepts, dispel the darkness of their own ignorance, obtain a little light, obtain a little fame, and in order to realize a little wisdom of understanding the nature of Dharma as it is, they teach the Dharma to others. Son of lineage, the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas do not have true focus on others. They do not have true compassion for others. They do not have a true mind of non-contempt for others. They do not have a true mind of benefiting and bringing happiness to others. They do not have a true mind of liberating and saving others. They do not have a true mind of uplifting others. They do not have a true mind of praising and extolling others. They do not praise others with deceit and trickery. They do not disregard their own body and do not accomplish the benefit and happiness of others. They do not guard their own actions of body, speech, and mind. Son of lineage, those who abide in the Great Vehicle, from the point of not truly clinging to anything as their own, and so on, extensively, there is no action of body, speech, and mind that harms others. Seventh Chapter. Son of lineage, furthermore, if a sentient being is naturally cruel, speaks harshly and rudely, is very foolish, has the nature of ignorance, is conceited, does not abandon killing and so on up to wrong views, when seeing others gain benefits, respect, offerings, and fame, they generate jealousy, always greedily seek their own benefits, respect, offerings, and fame without satisfaction, praise themselves and slander others, do not guard their own actions of body, speech, and mind, always delight in committing all evils, their own mind is fierce, they have no compassion, they have no shame, they like to harm others, they discriminate between good and bad fields of merit, they like to find fault with and seek opportunities to harm the ordained who have entered my teachings, once they find a small fault, without investigating whether it is true or false, they ridicule, slander, insult, and scold, their mind is untamed, they are arrogant.

Negligence. Delighting in harming the ordained. Not reflecting on one's own faults but mocking others. Upon hearing the virtues and praises of the Mahayana, one may develop a mind to seek and enter it, but delights in engaging in heavy, blameworthy misdeeds. Extremely unpacified. In order to deceive others, one listens to the Dharma of the Mahayana oneself and also shows the manner of causing others to listen. One reads and recites, and also shows the manner of causing others to read and recite. In order to praise oneself, one disparages others. Although one praises the Dharma of the Mahayana with respect and esteem, one has not diligently studied the conduct of the Mahayana, and therefore has not understood the meaning. One claims to be a Mahayanist and, in order to seek profit, fame, and one's own livelihood, causes others to rely on oneself and receive instruction. For example, like one who holds the Vinaya while having broken vows and engaging in misdeeds, one's own vows are broken and one engages in misdeeds, but for the sake of profit and fame, one urges others to study the Vinaya Pitaka. Thus, those beings who possess deceit and hypocrisy and whose nature is to deceive, even obtaining a final human body is difficult, and they also lose and cannot obtain the liberation of the gods of the heavenly realms and the two vehicles, let alone the Mahayana. That is impossible. After death, they will also fall into the hells, and there will be no time for liberation, so the wise should not rely on them. Without shame or embarrassment. In the midst of many retinues, for the sake of profit and respect, one proclaims in a lion's roar, "I am a Mahayanist," and thereby associates with and befriends foolish and ignorant people. This is like a donkey wearing a lion's skin and claiming to be a lion. When someone sees it from afar, they assume it is a lion. Then, when it makes a sound, everyone knows it is a donkey, and everyone spits on it, saying, "This fellow is a sinful donkey who eats unclean things." They revile it with various harsh words and then leave. Likewise, the person I have described who delights in engaging in the path of the ten non-virtuous actions is burning the seeds of all gods and humans, and is a Hearer and a
