Also, they are not perceived in the aggregates, nor are they manifestly attached. They also establish in enlightenment, but in the ultimate sense, enlightenment and those who achieve enlightenment are not perceived, nor are they manifestly attached to it. Son of good family, therefore, whatever is name, establishment, and designation, that is called conventional. Although there is no ultimate truth in conventional dharmas, the ultimate truth cannot be shown without conventional dharmas. Son of good family, bodhisattvas who are skilled in convention but not in the ultimate, are called skilled in convention. Son of good family, bodhisattvas who possess these ten dharmas are skilled in convention. Son of good family, bodhisattvas who possess ten dharmas are skilled in the ultimate. What are the ten? They are those who possess the nature of non-arising, the nature of non-cessation, the nature of non-destruction, the nature of non-acceptance and non-rejection, the nature of truly transcending the realm of words, the nature of unspeakable, the nature of non-elaboration, the nature of inexpressible, the nature of peace, and the nature of the noble ones. Son of good family, why is that? The ultimate truth is unborn, unceasing, indestructible, unaccepted, unrejected, not to be spoken by letters, not to be expressed by letters, not to be understood by elaboration. Son of good family, in the ultimate sense, it is inexpressible, it is peace, it is individually realized by the noble ones. Son of good family, the ultimate truth is indestructible whether the Tathagatas appear or not. Son of good family, therefore, bodhisattvas shave their hair and beards, wear saffron robes, and with true faith, go forth from home to homelessness. Having gone forth, they strive and abide as if their heads were on fire, for the sake of attaining this Dharma alone. Son of good family, if the ultimate truth did not exist, then celibacy would become meaningless. The appearance of the Tathagatas would also become meaningless. Because the ultimate truth exists, therefore, bodhisattvas are called skilled in the ultimate.

One should do so. Son of good family, if one possesses these ten dharmas, then the wise consider him to be a true Bodhisattva. Son of good family, if one possesses these ten dharmas, then the Bodhisattva is skilled in dependent origination. What are the ten? Namely: to thoroughly understand that all dharmas are of the nature of accumulation, of the nature of nourishment, of the nature of having no essence, of the nature of being like an eye disease, of the nature of being like an image, of the nature of being like a sound, of the nature of being like an illusion, of the nature of being non-abiding, of the nature of being moving, and also to understand them as being of the nature of dependent origination. They think thus: these dharmas are accumulated in this way, nourished in this way, without essence in this way, like an eye disease in this way, like an image in this way, like a sound in this way, like an illusion in this way, non-abiding in this way, moving in this way, dependently originated in this way, yet these dharmas appear to arise, and also appear to abide and cease. They think thus: what are the causes for these dharmas to arise? What are the causes for these dharmas to cease? They think thus: these dharmas arise due to the cause of ignorance, they arise from ignorance, ignorance is the leader, it relies on ignorance. Relying on ignorance, actions arise. Relying on actions, consciousness appears. If there is consciousness, then name and form are imputed. If name and form are imputed, then the six sense bases are imputed. If there are the six sense bases, then there will be contact. If there is contact, then feeling appears, and due to feeling, children are afflicted by craving. If afflicted by craving, then grasping is taken. If grasping is taken, then existence is connected. If there is existence, then there will be birth. If there is birth, then there will be aging. Any being who has the nature of aging will die. After death, sorrow, lamentation, depression, and confusion arise. Like this, this great mass of suffering will arise. Therefore, one who has the nature of wisdom should diligently strive to abandon ignorance.

One should strive diligently to destroy ignorance, to uproot ignorance from its very foundation, and to prevent ignorance. When ignorance ceases, these phenomena that arise from the condition of ignorance, that originate from ignorance, that are preceded by ignorance, and that depend on ignorance will also cease. Son of good family, it is like this: for example, when the life force ceases, the remaining faculties will also cease. Similarly, when ignorance ceases, these phenomena that depend on unknowing will also cease. By abandoning unknowing, the afflictions will also not arise. Sentient beings will also not arise. The streams of cyclic existence will also cease. One will also draw near to nirvana. Son of good family, if one possesses these ten qualities, then a bodhisattva is one who is skilled in dependent arising. Son of good family, if one possesses ten qualities, then a bodhisattva is one who knows himself. What are the ten? Son of good family, it is like this: here, a bodhisattva considers thus: "Am I of the Brahmin caste? Or the Kshatriya caste? Or the householder caste? Am I born into a high and wealthy family? Or a low and poor family? Where am I born?" If he is born into a high and wealthy family, he does not become arrogant because of his caste. Or if he is born into a low and poor family, he generates the thought: "Because I am born into such a family, I have made my former actions my guide." Because of this cause, he generates much weariness. Having generated much weariness, he goes forth. Having gone forth, he also considers thus: "Why have I gone forth? I shall liberate myself and also liberate others. I shall free myself and also free others." Thinking thus, he goes forth. Therefore, he does not rely on laziness and does not become negligent. He considers thus: "Since I have gone forth, what sins and unwholesome dharmas have been extinguished and completely ceased, and have become purified?" If he has abandoned some sin or unwholesome dharma, he generates joy, faith, and satisfaction in that. Those that have not been abandoned, he strives and exerts himself to abandon them. He considers thus: "Since I have gone forth, what wholesome dharmas
