And, rely on the definitive meaning sutra, do not rely on the provisional meaning sutra; rely on the Dharma nature, do not rely on the individual; realize the three doors of liberation through proper attention; you should make emptiness your object of experience. Completely abandon self-grasping, have no object of experience of characteristics, completely abandon characteristics, make the door of liberation without aspiration your object of experience, and transcend aspirations. Ananda, you should preach the Dharma to sentient beings based on dependent origination. The so-called Dharma of dependent origination is that without causes and conditions, no Dharma arises. Therefore, you should understand dependent origination. Ananda, what is the true realization of dependent origination? Dependent origination is the Dharma of non-arising. So, how can it be realized? To be patient with the Dharma of non-arising, and not to give rise to pride, that is the true realization of dependent origination. Ananda, you should preach the Dharma to sentient beings based on the various differences of the noble truths. Ananda, what are the various differences of the noble truths? Ananda, listen, what is the noble truth. Ananda, the noble truth is neither true nor false. What is neither true nor false? That is the so-called noble truth. So, how many differences are there in this truth? There is the truth of non-arising, the truth of suchness, the truth of detachment from desire, the truth of cessation, the truth of nirvana, the truth of liberation, the truth of no-thingness, the truth of non-proliferation, the truth of non-transmigration, the truth of spontaneous accomplishment, the truth of non-grasping, the truth of non-abandoning, the truth of non-doing, the truth of non-action, the truth of non-falling, the truth of no-abiding place. Ananda, any Dharma that does not arise, does not perish, does not abide, and does not change, that is the so-called truth. Ananda, from this it can be known that the Tathagatas and other noble beings are assembled.

Thus, the Dharma is taught as that which arises without being made. Understanding that suffering does not arise is the noble truth of suffering, which is the realization of suffering. Understanding that all arising does not originate and fully knowing its cause is the realization of the origin of suffering. That all phenomena of cessation are exhausted and no longer arise is the cessation of suffering. What is the path? The path that does not differentiate and enters into the single way of virtue and non-virtue, and realizes the single nature of all phenomena, is called the path. Joyful one, the three doors of liberation are also called the path, for by this path, the Sangha of the Hearers of the Buddhas of the past, who were perfectly enlightened, went forth to the good path of Nirvana. Joyful one, this is called the Noble Eightfold Path, namely: right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration. This is equally taught, and because of this equality, one does not discriminate about any Dharma, and therefore it is called entering the path. Joyful one, again, teach the Dharma in this way: You should strive in the yoga of mindfulness. You should realize the nature of the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment as they are, and be skilled in conduct, thus teach the Dharma. Joyful one, what is it to realize the nature of the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment as they are, and to be skilled in conduct? It is the very nature of letters and the equality of sound. Joyful one, the Tathagata establishes the Dharma with letters, but those letters are also empty of inherent existence, not arising and not ceasing. Even if spoken, it is only that much; even if not spoken, it is only that much, neither increasing nor decreasing. Therefore, those letters are not letters. Joyful one, a Bhikshu who knows the equality of letters and the equality of sound should be known as one who realizes the nature of the factors of enlightenment as they are and is skilled in conduct. Joyful one, furthermore, the Tathagata also within
