与四支军队的队伍一同出发，凡是能杀死残暴凶狠的指鬘（Angulimala）的，都赐予宝物：刀、弓、单尖金刚杵、短矛、盾牌，手持所有武器和工具，好好地去征讨吧！谁能杀死残暴的指鬘？用武器击打他，或者辱骂骑着牦牛的人。无论谁辱骂他，只要不从战场上退缩，想要牦牛的，就赐予最好的牦牛。想要马的，就赐予骑乘的马。想要金子的，就赐予金子、金币和百万那谟娑。想要银子的，就赐予百万银子。金刚、宝石、海螺、玛瑙、珊瑚和七宝等百万件都赐予。想要衣服的，就赐予天衣、丝绸、细棉布、科唐巴布、邦国布、马图拉布、巴鲁嘎擦布、巴林扎布、南方布、桑嘎希嘎布和库鲁班擦拉布等各种布匹。想要田地、村庄、水牛和女人的，也赐予一切最好的，这样宣告。之后，仅仅是指鬘的名字，就让所有侍从都感到恐惧，没有一个人出来。王妃的眷属和侍从们，像狗一样受制于他人，生活和死亡都取决于他人，各自拿着自己的武器，牦牛骑兵、骑兵和小型军队都严阵以待，来到了国王嘎拉巴那里。之后，王妃也呼喊着“不要去那个罪人那里！”，所有的人和其他的国土都没有了，只有一点点对神的冒犯。之后，向占卜者、算命者、司仪、智者和看相者询问指鬘今天是否会被杀死，占卜者和算命者们说：“今天指鬘将会化为灰烬。”之后，国王不相信他们的话，与四支军队的队伍一同前往世尊那里，到达后，用头顶礼世尊的足。

Setting out together with the assembly of the fourfold army, whoever is blessed to kill the cruel and fierce Angulimala, will be granted treasures: swords, bows, single-pointed vajras, short spears, and shields, holding all weapons and tools, go forth well to conquer! Who will kill the cruel Angulimala? Strike him with weapons, or insult those who ride yaks. Whoever insults him, as long as they do not retreat from the battlefield, if they desire yaks, they will be granted the best yaks. If they desire horses, they will be granted riding horses. If they desire gold, they will be granted gold, gold coins, and a million namoṣas. If they desire silver, they will be granted a million silver coins. Vajras, jewels, conches, agates, corals, and the seven precious things, a million of each, will be granted. For those who desire clothes, divine garments, silk, fine cotton cloth, Kotamba cloth, Banga cloth, Mathura cloth, Barukatsa cloth, Baringdra cloth, Southern cloth, Sangakashika cloth, and Kuru Panchala cloth, many kinds of cloth will be granted. Fields, villages, buffaloes, and women, whoever desires them, will be granted the best of all, thus it was proclaimed. Thereafter, the mere name of Angulimala caused all the attendants to be terrified, and not a single one came forth. The queen's retinue and the attendants, like dogs, were subject to others, their lives and deaths dependent on others, each holding their own weapons, the yak riders, horsemen, and small armies were all arrayed, and came to King Galaba. Then, the queen also cried out, "Do not go to that sinful one!" All the people and other lands are gone, only a small offense against the gods remains. Then, asking the diviners, astrologers, masters of ceremonies, wise men, and fortune-tellers whether Angulimala would be killed today, the diviners and astrologers said, "Today Angulimala will be reduced to ashes." Then, the king, not believing their words, went together with the assembly of the fourfold army to the Blessed One, and upon arriving, bowed his head at the feet of the Blessed One.

Then, the king, fearful and frightened, sat with his face and forehead covered in dust. Then, the Bhagavan, endowed with all-knowing wisdom, spoke thus to King Clear Light, the ruler of the land: "Great King, why are your face and forehead so covered in dust?" The king replied: "Because this person, this person is, O Bhagavan, called Angulimala, has killed nine hundred and ninety-nine evil people, strung their fingers into a necklace, and holding the necklace, says he will fight with me. He has blocked all my entrances and exits, and stands alone by the Ashoka tree, frightened even by the name of crows and hawks. That is my request." The Bhagavan spoke thus to King Clear Light, the ruler of the land: "Great King, what do you wish to do?" The king replied: "The presence of the Bhagavan is the measure of truth." The Bhagavan said: "Great King, shall I also go?" The king replied: "If the Bhagavan were to come, it would be a great fortune for many beings, but now Angulimala will also be destroyed." The Bhagavan said: "Great King, if Angulimala comes here, what should be done?" Then, the assembly of the fourfold army was greatly frightened, but the king, knowing the great essence of the Tathagata, rejoiced in his heart and was no longer afraid. The king replied: "If Angulimala comes here, he will be left alone." Then, the Bhagavan spoke to King Clear Light, the ruler of the land: "Great King, look at the glory of Angulimala." Then, King Clear Light, the ruler of the land, looked at Angulimala for a long time without blinking, and saw that Angulimala's form was large with red eyes. King Clear Light, the ruler of the land, was very frightened, and his hair stood on end, and like subduing a hungry ghost, his armor loosened, and all his weapons came out of their sheaths, and fell like arrows, and like a cat, he came before the lion throne of the Tathagata. I take refuge in such equanimity. Then, after all the four divisions of the army heard that sound, the armies of elephants, horses, yaks, and infantry weakened as if they were separating. Some fainted, some fell, and some were on the verge of death. Then, the Blessed One said to King Clear Light, the Holder of Treasures: Great King, listen to this verse, and you will be unharmed and unafraid. Whoever was heedless before, but later becomes heedful, shines in this world like the moon that emerges from the clouds. Then, in order to give all beings a respite, the Blessed One emitted rays of light called the Fearless Aspect, and all the beings who were touched by those rays became happy. The consorts and sons of King Clear Light, the Holder of Treasures, and all the beings in the city thought that the Tathagata had subdued Angulimala, and they all gathered there. Then, King Clear Light said to the Blessed One: Alas, O Blessed One, you are the tamer of the untamed, the guide of gods and humans. Even such a sinful person as this is established in the sacred Dharma. Alas, O Blessed One, you benefit all the world. The Blessed One said: The Bodhisattva, the great being, is steadfast. He first appeared to be heedless, and later he also showed his greatness. Therefore, he is as beautiful in the world as the moon freed from the clouds. Having liberated many billions of beings, he also shows the greatness of the Tathagata. Great King, Angulimala is not a sinner, but is called a Bodhisattva, a great being who possesses skillful means. The Great King asked: If he engages in evil deeds with the female attendant of the master and becomes a demon of the master's curse-dharma, why is he not considered sinful? The Blessed One said: Angulimala did not engage in evil deeds with the master's wife, but the master's wife saw his form and her mind changed. Like committing great evil, the master's dharma
