I think. Does the one who knows the essence of all dharmas exist? Or does it not exist? He reported: O Blessed One, the one who knows the essence of all dharmas is the one who knows the essence of illusion. O Blessed One, that does not exist; it is not existent. Why is that? O Blessed One, all dharmas have been shown by the Blessed One to be of the nature of illusion. That which is like illusion also does not exist. The one who knows the essence of all dharmas is without conception. Why is that? Because in this, no dharma that is truly existent is seen. The Blessed One said: Shariputra, well done! Well done! It is just so. Shariputra, if there were any dharma here that was a substance or truly existent, then sentient beings would not eventually be liberated from sorrow. Shariputra, because all dharmas are not true, are not existent, are not substance, therefore, even if sentient beings as numerous as the sands of the Ganges were repeatedly liberated from sorrow, because there are no sentient beings, nothing would appear to be exhausted from sentient beings. Shariputra, therefore, the conception that all sentient beings do not exist, and that those are also not visible, is the perfection of non-conception. Shariputra, by that means, those who have not given a ripened result have accomplished the perfection of non-conception. He reported: O Blessed One, how can those conceptions that have accomplished the perfection of non-conception quickly obtain forbearance towards the dharma of non-arising? The Blessed One said: Shariputra, those who have made manifest non-existence are wisdom. What is non-existence? Non-existence means viewing as self, viewing as sentient beings, viewing as life, viewing as person, viewing as annihilation, and viewing as permanence. Non-existence means conceiving of Buddha, conceiving of Dharma, conceiving of Sangha, conceiving of liberation from sorrow, and all mental connections, actions, knowledge, movements, and manifestations are all non-existent. Shariputra, therefore, those who are completely liberated from those who cling to what is not true in that way are wisdom.

“O, Shariputra, those who have perfected non-conceptuality in this way will quickly attain the tolerance of non-arising dharmas. When the Blessed One taught this teaching, forty-two thousand Bodhisattvas attained the tolerance of non-arising dharmas. Six thousand lay practitioners generated the mind of unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment. Thirty-six thousand sons of the gods realized wisdom. Those sixty monks with excessive pride also had their minds completely liberated from the outflows without clinging. After their minds were completely liberated, they spoke with one voice, saying: 'Blessed One, from this day forward, we will go forth after the six teachers. From this day forward, the Buddha is not our teacher. We do not rely on the Dharma, nor do we rely on the Sangha. From this day forward, we will say there is no action, say there is no cause, say there is no karma, say there is no result, and say it is not discipline.' At that time, many thousands of beings in that assembly thought to themselves: 'Like this, these monks speak such untrue words, will they not abandon the teachings of the Blessed One and take up the signs of the Tirthikas?' Then, the Venerable Shariputra, knowing the thoughts of the minds of those in the assembly, said to those monks: 'Venerable ones, what have you thought, that you say from this day forward we will go forth after the six teachers?' They said: 'Venerable Shariputra, from this day forward, we recognize that all teachers are the same as the six teachers, of the same nature, and without difference. We recognize that all teachers are without difference, and therefore we follow going forth without discrimination.' (Shariputra) said: 'What have you thought, that you say from this day forward our teacher is not the Buddha?' They said: 'From this day forward, we rely on ourselves and do not rely on others. We take refuge in ourselves and do not take refuge in others. Self is the teacher, there is no other teacher.' Therefore, from this day forward
