Listen to this category of Dharma. Therefore, because there is no mental wandering, no doubt, and no hesitation, hold this category of Dharma with its qualities and praises, and fully understand it. Having fully understood it, also become endowed with the power of faith. Coming to towns and cities, regions, villages and the surroundings of villages, and the surroundings of palaces, and proclaiming oneself as a doctor, 'I am a doctor.' Then, immediately, thousands of beings tormented by various diseases came to where the Bodhisattva Vajra Banner was, for the sake of life's protection. Then, the Bodhisattva Vajra Banner, with a mind abiding in the power of faith, bestowed this Dharma teaching upon those beings. Whatever mantras arose from this category of Dharma were also used to protect, save, and completely hold them. Manjushri, what are those mantra words? Tadyatha. Ala ta. Bitala. Bibhrina. Atirtha. Abhrida. Anuda. Bibrapatu. Nahi khagaru nga. Maya sukha. Ananda. Zala da. Nada mitra. Amitra. Zotra hita. Sarva datra la. Om gamamga artha yuta. Sabra ma isha. With these mantra words, those beings were protected. Therefore, if they were harmed by poison, or tormented by non-humans, or seized by any kind of poisonous creature, or if they had wasting disease and leprosy, or were afflicted by diseases of wind, bile, phlegm, and combinations, those beings severely tormented by various diseases were completely liberated from those diseases. Manjushri, in this way, the Bodhisattva Vajra Banner, abiding in this category of Dharma, completely liberated those beings from diseases. Manjushri, what do you think? At that time, at that moment, do you think that the one called Bodhisattva Vajra Banner was someone else? Do not view it that way. Why is that? Because at that time, at that moment, I myself became the one called Bodhisattva Vajra Banner, and I had faith in this category of Dharma and did the benefit of so many beings. Manjushri, through that category, you should also like this.

应当如是理解：此法类当如一切药物之甘露。 妙吉祥菩萨请问： 世尊，菩萨如何执持、受持此明咒之语，并令通达？当如何行持？ 世尊告曰： 妙吉祥，诵持此明咒之菩萨，当行持清净，不食肉。 彼亦不应涂足。 不应住于喧嚣之中。 应对一切众生恒常怀有慈悲之心。 对那些将要作害之人，不应心怀恶意。 此法类，若不清净，则不应诵读。 不应置于不净之处。 妙吉祥菩萨请问： 世尊，我如是作念： 宣说此法类的菩萨，当不顾自身性命。 世尊告曰： 妙吉祥，正是如此。 正是如此，如汝所言。 其后，世尊告具寿阿难陀： 此法类将成办众多生灵之利益。 阿难陀，汝当受持。 阿难陀，凡对法类生信者，彼等将以象之力量，以及大象之力量而压制。 阿难陀，凡对法类生信者，彼等将如狮子之行步，以及殊胜之行步而行进。 阿难陀，此法类 将令菩萨们欢喜，并将令菩萨们出现。 我逝世之后，此法类将落入菩萨之手。 将成为菩萨之经卷，以及成为菩萨之箧笥。 不会落入菩萨旃陀罗之手。 不会成为经卷，以及不会成为箧笥。 其后，具寿阿难陀向世尊如是禀白： 世尊，我将如如来所说般受持此法类。

It should be understood that this Dharma category is like the nectar of all medicines. Manjushri asked: World Honored One, how should a Bodhisattva hold and maintain these words of the Knowledge Mantra, and make them understood? How should one practice? The World Honored One said: Manjushri, a Bodhisattva who recites these Knowledge Mantras should practice cleanliness and not eat meat. He should also not anoint his feet. He should not dwell in noisy places. He should always have a compassionate heart towards all sentient beings. He should not harbor malice towards those who will harm him. This Dharma category should not be recited if it is not clean. It should not be placed in an unclean place. Manjushri asked: World Honored One, I think this way: A Bodhisattva who expounds this Dharma category should not care about his own life. The World Honored One said: Manjushri, it is just so. It is just so, as you say. Then, the World Honored One said to the Venerable Ananda: This Dharma category will accomplish the benefit of many beings. Ananda, you should uphold it. Ananda, those sentient beings who have faith in this Dharma category will be suppressed by the power of an elephant and the power of a great elephant. Ananda, those who have faith in this Dharma category will walk like the gait of a lion and the gait of a supreme leader. Ananda, this Dharma category will delight the Bodhisattvas and will cause Bodhisattvas to appear. After my passing, this Dharma category will fall into the hands of Bodhisattvas. It will become a Bodhisattva's scripture and a Bodhisattva's box. It will not fall into the hands of Bodhisattva Chandalas. It will not become a scripture or a box. Then, the Venerable Ananda said to the World Honored One: World Honored One, I will uphold this Dharma category as the Tathagata has said.

哦。 世尊开示说：贤者阿难陀，如你所领受的此法之类别，对于那些被给予的众生，你做教导之事，善哉！善哉！ 世尊如是开示后，具寿阿难陀，以及具寿舍利子，和文殊童子，以及天、人、阿修罗、乾闼婆等世间，皆心生欢喜，对世尊所说之语深表赞叹。 《名为象力之大乘经》圆满。 《名为象力之大乘经》。

O. The Blessed One said: Ananda, as you have grasped this category of Dharma, it is good, good that you do the work of teaching those beings who have been given to you. After the Blessed One had spoken thus, the venerable Ananda, the venerable Shariputra, Manjushri the youth, and the worlds with gods, humans, asuras, and gandharvas rejoiced and praised the words of the Blessed One. The Great Vehicle Sutra called "Elephant Strength" is complete. The Great Vehicle Sutra called "Elephant Strength."
