Has become and abides. Shariputra asked: World Honored One, please speak those words that, when heard, will leave all the retinue without doubt. The World Honored One said: Shariputra, whoever sees the Tathagata as like a dream, as like an illusion, sees truly. Those who see truly do not perceive the Tathagata as real, not as essence, not as substance, not as a thing, not as whole. Whoever does not perceive the Tathagata as real, not as essence, not as substance, not as a thing, not as whole, those people see all formations as false. Whoever sees all formations as false, those people know all dharmas as inverted. Whoever knows all dharmas as inverted, the Tathagata has taught that those people have perfected inverted views. They also know that all who have become seers are inverted, therefore those people are also called inverted views. Shariputra, in that way, whoever wants to see the Tathagata, those people are called inverted views. Shariputra, those are the undisturbed views of the Tathagata's body. Whoever thinks that the Tathagata's body is inverted, those people have no perception of the Tathagata. Shariputra, whoever knows in this way inverted, that is seeing the Tathagata. Asked: World Honored One, how do those with inverted views truly enter? The World Honored One said: Shariputra, whoever, as ordinary beings, grasps at thoughts, discriminates thoughts, investigates, discriminates investigations, arises, completely arises, relies, abides, takes, abandons, and views self, sentient beings, life, and persons as real, who are attached to grasping at self, and attached to what belongs to self, those people's actions, knowledge, agitation, and proliferation, those kinds of things, they know, and they know that those are not as they are. Shariputra, the so-called "non-existence" is an untrue empty word. Untrue

That which is called "is" is false. That which is called "false" is a wrong term. Therefore, those who cling to what is not true in this way, because they see things wrongly, are said to have entered the right path. Shariputra, it is precisely in this way that those who see things wrongly have entered the right path. The questioner said: World Honored One, if one gives to those who have entered the right path, will there not be a greater fruit? Will there not be greater benefit? The World Honored One said: Shariputra, those who are in accordance with entering the right path in this way, giving to them is inclined towards Nirvana, flows towards Nirvana, leads to Nirvana, and ultimately reaches Nirvana. Nirvana is neither a small fruit nor a large fruit, neither a small benefit nor a large benefit. Why is that? Because Nirvana is free from all fruits and is not named, because it is not something that can be named. The questioner said: World Honored One, if that is the case, how does the Thus Come One show the differences in the benefits of limitless merits for Nirvana, which cannot be named? The World Honored One said: Shariputra, in order to generate faith in those sentient beings who have the realm of birth, those who claim to have self, sentient beings, life, and person, the Thus Come One shows the differences in the benefits of limitless merits for Nirvana, which cannot be named. Shariputra, however, the noble ones do not value entering into giving, the noble ones value being free from desire and liberation from giving. Shariputra, for example, farmers sow barley seeds in the field, and relying on those barley, weeds, grasses, and green grasses will grow. Shariputra, what do you think? Are these weeds, grasses, and green grasses the fruits of that farmer's labor? The questioner said: World Honored One, no. The World Honored One said: Shariputra, for example, when a farmer sows barley seeds, relying on those barley, weeds, grasses, and green grasses will grow, and other barley ears will also grow. Similarly, giving to the noble ones

That is to say, with small effort it can be transformed into great enjoyment, and moreover, the exhaustion of defilements causes all the fruits of craving to wither. For example, if someone wants barley, he will not be satisfied by thinking that this is not the fruit of the barley seed, this is not the marrow of the barley seed, nor will he be satisfied with grass and moss. Similarly, giving to a field that is not man-made should not be shown to be a man-made fruit. Shariputra, in this way, giving to those who truly enter is not a great reward, nor is it a great benefit. Asked, World Honored One, if it is not a great reward, nor a great benefit, how are they the place of giving in the world? The World Honored One said: Shariputra, those who do not think that the fruit is great, nor think that the fruit is small, will not generate giving. Those who do not generate giving become the place of giving in the world, including the gods. Shariputra, for them, giving to a field that will not be exhausted will neither blossom nor bear fruit. Shariputra, in this way, for those whose giving is neither a great reward nor a great benefit, they are the place of giving in the world. Asked, World Honored One, if giving to those places of giving in the world, how is there no maturation? The World Honored One said: Shariputra, what do you think? Are those givings that will ultimately reach Nirvana of a maturing nature? Asked, World Honored One, no. World Honored One, if giving ultimately reaches Nirvana, then the noble ones will not distinguish it by non-artificial means. The World Honored One said: Shariputra, good! Good! In this way, giving to those who are the place of giving in the world is without maturation. Asked, World Honored One, if those who have no maturation of giving, how do they perfectly complete the absence of concept? The World Honored One said: Shariputra, what do you think?
