Manjushri, any son or daughter of good family who, to Bodhisattvas traveling in chariots of rams, as many as the motes of dust in all the Buddha-fields of the ten directions, gives daily food with a hundred divine flavors and also gives divine garments, and gives in this way for as many kalpas as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River; and another son or daughter of good family who gives just one mouthful of food in one day to a Bodhisattva traveling in a chariot of elephants, this one generates immeasurably more merit. Manjushri, any son or daughter of good family who, to Bodhisattvas traveling in chariots of elephants, as many as the motes of dust in all the Buddha-fields of the ten directions, gives daily food with a hundred divine flavors and also gives divine garments, and gives in this way for as many kalpas as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River; and another son or daughter of good family who gives just one mouthful of food in one day to a Bodhisattva traveling in the moon and sun, this one generates immeasurably more merit. Manjushri, if any son or daughter of good family gives, for as many kalpas as there are sands in the Ganges River, to as many Bodhisattvas who appear to travel by the miraculous power of a Shravaka as there are fine motes of dust in all the realms of the ten directions, each day giving them heavenly food with a hundred flavors and also giving them heavenly clothes. If another son or daughter of good family gives a single meal to a single Bodhisattva who appears to travel by the miraculous power of a Tathagata, this will generate immeasurably more merit than that. Manjushri, if any son or daughter of good family gives to as many Bodhisattvas who appear to travel by the miraculous power of a Tathagata as there are fine motes of dust in all the realms of the ten directions. Each day giving them heavenly food with a hundred flavors and also giving them heavenly clothes. Thus, giving for as many kalpas as there are sands in the Ganges River. If another son or daughter of good family, after hearing this Dharma teaching, generates delight and faith, this will generate immeasurably more merit than that. Manjushri, if any son or daughter of good family allows as many beings as there are fine motes of dust in all the realms of the ten directions to eat food, and builds dwellings for as many Pratyekabuddhas as there are fine motes of dust in ten three-thousand great-thousand worlds, made of Jambu River gold, adorned with jewel electric lights, surrounded by platforms piled with all kinds of jewel lights, decorated with jewels, pearls, and strings of jewels, raising umbrellas, victory banners, and streamers, covered with a net of jewel sovereign kings, above a net of tinkling bells.
