With undisturbed wisdom, speaking the Dharma without fault, thus continuing the tradition, abandoning all non-virtuous dharmas, completely destroying all habitual tendencies, the Dharma naturally manifests, without a teacher, understanding all the Buddha's teachings, thus knowing everything, all these pure Buddha's teachings can be fully attained. End of Volume Four. Then, the Jewel Daughter asked the Blessed One: Blessed One, the thirty-two marks of a great man of the Tathagata, what collections of virtuous roots did one participate in the past that caused the thirty-two marks of a great man to manifest on the body of the Tathagata? The Blessed One said to the Jewel Daughter: Jewel Daughter, in the past, one participated in immeasurable and countless collections of virtuous roots, which caused the thirty-two marks of a great man to manifest on the body of the Tathagata. Now, I will show a small portion of them. The Tathagata's mark of a great man, the feet being very stable, is accomplished by being steadfast in vows in the past. The Tathagata's mark of a great man, the soles of the feet having the mark of a wheel, is accomplished by accumulating various kinds of giving in the past. The heels being wide and the insteps being high, is accomplished by not harming other sentient beings in the past. The fingers being long, is accomplished by protecting, saving, and hiding sentient beings with the Dharma in the past. The hands and feet being connected by webs, is accomplished by not separating others' retinues in the past. The hands and feet being tender, is accomplished by giving various kinds of clothing in the past. The seven places being full, is accomplished by giving abundant food and drink in the past. The calves being like those of a gazelle, is accomplished by upholding the Buddha's teachings in the past. The secret place being retracted, is accomplished by guarding secret words and abandoning the Dharma of sexual desire in the past. The upper body being like that of a lion, is accomplished by gradually practicing vast virtuous deeds in the past. The shoulders being full, is accomplished by truly practicing virtuous dharmas in the past.

The arms are not bent and are long, accomplished by being happy to help others do anything in the past. The body is extremely pure, accomplished by never being satisfied with practicing the path of the ten virtuous actions in the past, and truly practicing them. The throat is like a conch shell, accomplished by giving various medicines to patients in the past. The cheeks are like the cheeks of a lion, accomplished by completely perfecting the practice of the roots of virtue in the past. Having forty teeth complete, accomplished by treating sentient beings with an equal mind in the past. The teeth are well arranged, accomplished by reconciling discordant sentient beings in the past. The teeth are even, accomplished by giving pleasing jewels in the past. The teeth are white, accomplished by strictly guarding the actions of body, speech, and mind in the past. The tongue is extremely long, accomplished by constantly guarding truthful speech in the past.
