These are the four. To this it is said: The realm of emptiness practice, they bind and liberate, abide in the signless, and fully ripen these sentient beings. Abiding in the absence of aspiration, for the sake of ripening sentient beings, they are born at will, and can be born wherever they desire. Having attained certainty through wisdom and means, and abiding in the gate of liberation, yet the unconditioned realm is not attained out of time. Son of the gods, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva possesses four qualities, they are skilled in cultivating tranquility for the sake of subduing those with excessive pride. What are the four? Namely, to know well all the gates of the Dharma realm, to have unimpeded faith and understanding in all Dharmas, to fully know the afflictions arising from the root of all conceptualizations, and to have no timidity towards all Dharmas with the nature of Nirvana. These are the four Dharmas. To this it is said: When the mind is equal, it is certain to arise in the Dharma realm, and those people will not see any obstacles. Afflictions all arise from the root of conceptualization, having known this, they do not show tranquility from those places. All these Dharmas are Nirvana by nature, unarisen and unceasing, and the essence is naturally pure. Those who seek omniscience everywhere, after Nirvana, can subdue those with excessive pride. Son of the gods, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva possesses four qualities, they are skilled in the cause of all actions. What are the four? Namely, not abandoning generosity, the cause of great wealth; not abandoning morality, the cause of being born in higher realms; not abandoning listening, the cause of great wisdom; and not abandoning meditation, the cause of separation. These are the four Dharmas. To this it is said: Not abandoning generosity, the cause of great wealth, that is its fruit; obtaining morality, the cause of being born in higher realms, that is its fruit; listening, the cause of wisdom destroying afflictions, that is its fruit; practicing meditation, the cause of realizing liberation, that is its fruit. Those wise ones who are constantly diligent in those four causes, are empowered for the heart of Bodhi, and practice day and night for the sake of the fruit. Son of the gods, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva possesses four qualities, then regarding the view

Those who are free from various forms and are skilled in dependent origination, what are the four? They are not annihilationists, not eternalists, observing that if ignorance arises, old age and death arise, and not clinging to self; if ignorance ceases, observing that old age and death cease, and also not preventing existence. These are the four dharmas. To this it is said: Never viewing as eternal, not falling into annihilation. Therefore, knowing that all phenomena arise from causes and conditions, without an agent or experiencer, and are pure in nature. All Buddhas have said that old age and death arise from the root of ignorance, and when it ceases, the cause and conditions are exhausted, therefore all will no longer arise. Son of the gods, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who possesses four dharmas is skilled in the methods of maturing all sentient beings. What are the four? A Bodhisattva observes dependence on all sentient beings, is not weary of truly accumulating roots of virtue, completely seeks the gate of Nirvana from the gate of Samsara, and experiences according to the inclinations of sentient beings, without being defiled by afflictions. These are the four dharmas. To this it is said: Buddhahood depends on sentient beings, accumulating virtues and so on, without being weary of desires. Completely seeking Nirvana from the gate of Samsara, truly knowing the methods of sentient beings' inclinations. Son of the gods, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who possesses four dharmas is the near abode of all sentient beings. What are the four? Inexhaustible enjoyment, inexhaustible teaching of the Dharma, attainment of supernormal knowledge, and a mind as equal as the earth. These are the four dharmas. To this it is said: Their enjoyment is always inexhaustible, and the inexhaustible ocean of Dharma is always like the sea. Their five supernormal knowledges are inexhaustible, constantly unmoving, constantly mindful, and their thoughts are like the earth. Having truly entered for the sake of unequaled Bodhi, for those who have not escaped Samsara, whoever possesses these dharmas, they will become the near abode of all beings, and the supreme Bodhi.
