The path of enlightenment is the mind and conduct of all sentient beings. The path of enlightenment is to go without going, and to move without moving. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, with what cause is enlightenment in accordance? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, enlightenment is in accordance with the cause of great compassion. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, with what cause is great compassion in accordance? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, great compassion is in accordance with the cause of completely liberating all sentient beings. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, where should enlightenment be sought? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, enlightenment should be sought from following the realization of the afflictions of all sentient beings. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, where should the afflictions be sought? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, the afflictions should be sought from the Noble Eightfold Path. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, does the Noble Path abide together with the afflictions? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, if the Noble Path were something that has become dualistic, then the Noble Path would also abide together with the afflictions. Son of the gods, the Noble Path is not something that has become dualistic; that which seeks afflictions is itself the Noble Path. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, how does the path perform the function of the path? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, when one seeks, one does not find afflictions, nor does one find samsara, nor does one find nirvana; in that way, the path has performed the function of the path. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, what is the path of a Bodhisattva? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, the path of a Bodhisattva is the sixty-two types of views, the four inversions, the five obscurations, and all the dharmas of the side of non-virtue. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, having thought of what, do you speak in this way? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, since a Bodhisattva is associated with sentient beings, sentient beings should not be sought from anywhere other than the various forms of views, inversions, obscurations, and non-virtuous dharmas. Why is that? Because a Bodhisattva is by means of

As for sentient beings, the aspects of views that are thoroughly distinguished, as well as perversions, obscurations, and afflictions, one seeks precisely these. If one seeks these, then sentient beings are not found, and afflictions are not found either. If they are not found, then one will not become weary of completely maturing sentient beings. Son of the gods, therefore, seeking afflictions is the path of a Bodhisattva, and seeking sentient beings is also the path of a Bodhisattva. Seeking the aggregates, elements, sense bases, and afflictions is also the path of a Bodhisattva. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, are not these three doors of liberation the path of a Bodhisattva? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, emptiness cannot be sought, and signlessness and wishlessness cannot be sought either. Why is that? Son of the gods, because mind, intellect, and consciousness do not enter into it, and that into which mind, intellect, and consciousness do not enter cannot be sought. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, how does one realize the path? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, whatever right view is equal to, wrong view is also equal to that; whatever realization is like that, that is the realization of the path. Whatever right thought is equal to, wrong thought is also equal to that; whatever right speech is equal to, wrong speech is also equal to that; whatever right action is equal to, wrong action is also equal to that; whatever right livelihood is equal to, wrong livelihood is also equal to that; whatever right effort is equal to, wrong effort is also equal to that; whatever right mindfulness is equal to, wrong mindfulness is also equal to that; whatever right concentration is equal to, wrong concentration is also equal to that; whatever realization is like that, that is the realization of the path. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, what is right view equal to? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, right view and wrong view are equal to emptiness and solitude. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, what difference is there between emptiness and solitude? Manjushri said: So
