No. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, based on what do you say that? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, it is like this, the Shravakas rely on the Pratyekabuddhas and abandon pride, but the Bodhisattvas have excessive pride, and because that pride can perfectly accomplish the Buddhas' Dharma, therefore the Bodhisattvas have excessive pride. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, a person with excessive pride praises himself and disparages others, will the Bodhisattva also become like that? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, it is like that, the Bodhisattva praises himself and disparages others. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, based on what do you say that? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, the Bodhisattva in many ways proclaims the virtues of the Mahayana, and proclaims that it is not the virtue of the Shravaka vehicle, thinking, how can sentient beings generate the mind of Bodhi, and thus proclaims the Dharma of his own virtues, and thinking, do not let them generate a joyful mind towards this! Therefore, he has great hatred for the inferior vehicle, so son of the gods, in this way, the Bodhisattva praises the Mahayana, and disparages the Shravaka vehicle. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, in that case, will the Bodhisattva not become a fallen one? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, if someone proclaims that it is not the virtue of agate, but proclaims the virtue of precious lapis lazuli, will he also become a fallen one? The son of the gods said: Manjushri, that will not happen. Manjushri said: Son of the gods, similarly, the Bodhisattva proclaims the virtues of the Mahayana, and proclaims that it is not the virtue of the Shravaka vehicle, and will not become a fallen one. Son of the gods, it is like this, for example, a very strong man, if he proclaims the virtues of the Chakravartin king, but not like that to the local king, do you think that is worthy of being blamed? The son of the gods said: Manjushri, it is not like that.

No. Manjushri said: Son of the gods, likewise, a Bodhisattva who praises the Great Vehicle and disparages the Hearer Vehicle should not be disparaged either. Then, the Blessed One praised Manjushri, who had become a youth, saying: Manjushri, well done, well done! Your words are well spoken. Manjushri, praising the Great Vehicle is praising all vehicles. Why is that? Manjushri, all vehicles necessarily arise from it. Furthermore, the son of the gods, Supreme Intellect, said this to Manjushri, who had become a youth: Manjushri, upon what does a Bodhisattva rely to generate the mind of enlightenment? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, a Bodhisattva relies on the afflictions of all sentient beings to generate the mind of enlightenment. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, why does a Bodhisattva rely on the afflictions of all sentient beings to generate the mind of enlightenment? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, if the afflictions of sentient beings were not the vehicle of enlightenment, then the Bodhisattva would not generate the mind of enlightenment and put on armor. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, upon what does the mind of enlightenment rely? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, the mind of enlightenment relies on all the Buddha's teachings. Why is that? Son of the gods, all the Buddha's teachings arise relying on the root of the mind of enlightenment. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, upon what do all dharmas rely? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, all dharmas rely on the place without a root. Why is that? Son of the gods, all dharmas are without a root because they are limitless, and they are manifest, and they also rely on space. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, how many Buddha's teachings are there? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, there are as many as there are all dharmas. Why is that? Because the Thus-Gone One has awakened to all dharmas, therefore, son of the gods, because of that, there are as many as there are all dharmas.

The Buddha's teachings are also like that. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, then are desire, hatred, and ignorance also the teachings of the Buddha? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, yes, desire, hatred, and ignorance are also the teachings of the Buddha. Why is that? Because realizing the root of those afflictions shows that one is a Buddha. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, is there a way for all sentient beings to become Buddhas? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, there are countless ways for all sentient beings to become Buddhas, but not through numbers. Why is that? Because the Tathagata has fully understood all sentient beings. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, how does he fully understand? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, through the aspect of no sentient beings and the aspect of emptiness. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, what does emptiness realize? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, if it realizes even a little, then it is not emptiness. Why is that? Son of the gods, because emptiness is without discrimination and without effort. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, didn't the Tathagata say that realizing emptiness is enlightenment? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, emptiness is enlightenment, so the Bhagavan also said that only realizing emptiness is enlightenment. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, what does abiding in emptiness abide in? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, abiding in emptiness does not abide in desire, form, and formlessness, does not abide in aggregates, elements, and sources, does not abide in body and mind. Why is that? Son of the gods, because that abiding place, the abiding place by which one abides, is also empty, so emptiness does not abide in emptiness. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, doesn't the Tathagata abide by abiding in the ultimate emptiness? Manjushri said: Son of the gods,
