That will gain ten times the power increase. When the Blessed One spoke these words of knowledge and mantra, the four great kings were frightened and their hairs stood on end. With hundreds of thousands of servants, they immediately went to where the Blessed One was, bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One, and, joining their palms, said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, we four great kings are constant entrants, who carry out the teachings of the Tathagata. To those sons and daughters of good family who possess and read such a sutra as this, together with their relatives and retinue, who speak the Dharma and teach the Dharma, Blessed One, we four great kings will protect, save, and hide them. Whether they dwell in a village, city, region, or any part of a region, whether they are householders or renunciates, Blessed One, we four kings, with power and retinue, are pleased to provide offerings to those sons or daughters of good family. We are pleased to protect, save, delight, encourage, and to prevent others from harming and violating them. Blessed One, in whatever place this category of Dharma is practiced, in that place, within a hundred yojanas all around, neither gods, dragons, yakshas, nor kumbhandas will find an opportunity. Then, the great king Virudhaka spoke in verse, saying: Whatever sons and relatives I have, servants and attendants, and all our friends, we will serve those masters. Then, the great king Virupaksha spoke in verse, saying: I am the son of the Dharma King, born from the Dharma, an emanation of the Dharma. Whatever sons of yours enter the path to enlightenment, I will serve them. Then, the great king Dhritarashtra spoke in verse, saying: Those who hold this sutra spoken by the Buddha, I will protect them in all directions. Then, the great king Vaishravana with verse.
