Oh! The trunk is like that. The branches are like that. The leaves are like that. The flowers are like that. The fruits are like that. Lord of the Nagas, therefore, wishing to fully grasp the tree of enlightenment of the Bodhisattva's omniscience, one should not forget the mind of omniscience. Lord of the Nagas, whoever has well grasped the mind of omniscience, I have not seen those perfect qualities that have not been fully grasped. Lord of the Nagas, it is like this: for example, whoever has grasped the seed of a tree, has also grasped its roots, trunk, branches, leaves, flowers, and fruits. Lord of the Nagas, similarly, whoever has well grasped the mind of omniscience has grasped the dharmas of the path to enlightenment. Lord of the Nagas, therefore, grasp, hold, and recite this chapter on the source of omniscient wisdom, the gateway to the qualities of the Bodhisattva! Also, widely and correctly explain it to the retinue! You should train in this way. When the Blessed One spoke this chapter on the source of omniscient wisdom, seventy-two thousand nagas from that retinue generated the mind for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. The young nagas, naga daughters, and naga kings who created roots of virtue attained the tolerance of conformity. The five hundred Bodhisattvas who had previously gathered attained the tolerance of non-arising dharmas. Then, those naga sons, naga daughters, and naga kings, abiding invisibly in the sky above, blessed great clouds that followed the seasons, and rained down a shower of celestial sandalwood snake-heart incense powder for the purpose of offering to the Blessed One. The nets of pearls also covered the land of Jambudvipa, which is endowed with all things. Necklaces and moon-like ornaments also manifestly covered the entire surface of the sky. Then, the naga king Anavatapta said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, how long...

It is wonderful that the Thus Come One has explained so well the mind of enlightenment, the mind of omniscience, the qualities, the aspects, and the entry. World Honored One, which pure path, if entered by the Bodhisattvas, will lead to the supreme attainment of the ultimate, the power of the ten strengths, the fearlessness of the four fearlessnesses, and until the complete attainment of Buddhahood, will not lead to regression or increase in the interim? Please explain the pure path of the Bodhisattvas, which is called the realm of activity of the Bodhisattvas. Having thus requested, the World Honored One spoke thus to the Dragon King Anavatapta: Dragon King, the pure paths of the Bodhisattvas are these eight. What are the eight? They are: the path of the perfections, the path of the objects of attraction, the path of supernormal knowledges, the path of the immeasurables, the eightfold path, the path of equanimity towards all sentient beings, the path of the three liberations, and the path of attaining excellent forbearance of the unborn dharma. Dragon King, the pure paths of the Bodhisattvas are those eight. Among them, the path of the perfections is the complete dedication to omniscience. Why is that? Because a giving that is not completely dedicated to omniscience does not obtain the name of giving perfection. Similarly, morality, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom, if not completely dedicated to omniscience, do not obtain the name of wisdom perfection. Therefore, complete dedication to omniscience is called the path of the perfections. Among them, the path of the objects of attraction is to make others devoted to the Dharma. Why is that? Dragon King, thus, whatever sentient beings are attracted by that Bodhisattva with the four objects of attraction, they will come to understand all the Dharma taught by that Bodhisattva. Therefore, making others devoted to the Dharma is called the path of the objects of attraction. Among them, the path of supernormal knowledge is whatever divine

With the eye, one sees all the Buddha-fields. One also sees the death and birth of sentient beings. One also sees the Buddha, the Bhagavan, together with the Sangha of the Shravakas. Having seen these, one takes up those aspects that should be taken up, and one abandons those that should be abandoned. With the divine ear, one hears the words spoken by the Buddhas, the Bhagavan. Having heard them, one remembers them and does not forget them. One also fully understands the mental activities of other sentient beings and other individuals. Having understood them, one teaches the Dharma to each according to their needs. One remembers one's former abodes. Having remembered them, one does not forget the roots of virtue one has done in the past. Also, by means of miraculous powers, one goes to endless Buddha-fields, and one tames those sentient beings who are to be tamed by means of miraculous powers. Therefore, it is called the path of higher knowledge. Among these, the immeasurable path is that which fully understands the mental activities of the Brahmas who have fallen into a state of suffering, and of other gods who dwell in the realm of form, and leads them in the same way that one tames them, saying, "This is the mind of loving-kindness, this is the mind of great compassion, this is the mind of joy, this is the mind of equanimity." Therefore, it is called the immeasurable path. Among these, the eightfold path is that which follows all sentient beings, follows the vehicle of the Shravakas, follows the vehicle of the Pratyekabuddhas, and follows the Great Vehicle. Because it follows all, it is called the eightfold path. Among these, the path of equanimity towards all sentient beings is that which does not engage in discrimination, saying, "This should be done, this should not be done, this should be spoken to, this should not be spoken to, this is a worthy recipient of offerings, this is not a worthy recipient of offerings," but rather follows equanimity towards all sentient beings. Therefore, it is called the path of equanimity towards all sentient beings. Among these, the path of the three liberations is emptiness for the sake of abandoning all objects of focus, signlessness for the sake of abandoning all thoughts, discriminations, complete discriminations, signs, and various discriminations, and the three realms
