Also abiding equally in the mind of omniscience, also truly subduing all arrogance, also being skilled in understanding the faculties of all sentient beings, also proclaiming the qualities of the noble ones, also diligently abiding in the dharma of the non-noble ones, also being without elaboration and entering into elaboration, also being peaceful and also completely holding those who are not peaceful, also not wavering and not completely wavering, also not cutting off the continuity, also abiding near the complete accomplishment of the adornments of the Buddha's field, this is the faultless bodhisattva, the lord of nagas, who transcends the world, and is also not turning away from the world. O lord of nagas, whoever thus possesses wisdom and skillful means and the samadhi of the noble ones, this is entering into the faultlessness of the bodhisattva. O lord of nagas, it is like this: for example, entering into the faultlessness of a shravaka is the dharma of not falling back, which is called "stream-enterer." O lord of nagas, likewise, entering into the faultlessness of a bodhisattva is the dharma of not falling back, which is called "non-returning." O lord of nagas, entering into the faultlessness of a shravaka is non-transcendence, which causes one to obtain the fruit without being devoured by demons. Entering into the faultlessness of a bodhisattva is transcendence, which does not cause one to obtain the fruit of a shravaka, but brings one near to the fruit of the essence of bodhi. Therefore, the faultlessness of a shravaka is measurable, but the faultlessness of a bodhisattva is not measurable. O lord of nagas, it is like this: for example, if two men fall into a great precipice, one of them, possessing such strength and diligence and asceticism and skillful means and past habituation and reasoning, even though he falls, is pulled out of that great precipice by the power of great diligence, and again goes to the top of that great precipice and abides there. The other one, being weak in strength and unskilled in skillful means, falls in that way. O lord of nagas, the bodhisattva also, by increasing the power of wisdom, views all dharmas as emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, and non-conceptualization, and truly understands them, and with great compassion focused on all sentient beings

Those who are skilled in the means of correct guidance also abide in the mind of omniscience. Those of the Hearer Vehicle realize the fruit by individually examining the Dharma. The one called "Great Lord of the Nāgas, Great Perilous Place" is a technical term for unconditioned Dharma. The one called "Person Endowed with the Power of Diligence" is a technical term for Bodhisattva. The one called "Having Fallen into Peril and Unable to Recover" is a technical term for those of the Hearer Vehicle. Those lords of the Nāgas who hear this faultless one will certainly attain unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and will also be close to the faultlessness of a Bodhisattva. Then, the son of the Dragon King, named Manifestation, said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, with a mind free from defilement, I will cause this category of Dharma to abide for a long time, and for the sake of upholding the sacred Dharma, I generate the mind of enlightenment and take refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha. By the wisdom of the Buddha, through the nature of mind, I will realize the nature of enlightenment, and through the nature of enlightenment, I will realize the nature of all Dharmas, and I will explain it thoroughly. Blessed One, those who do not listen to this chapter on the Dharma gate of the path of complete purification are blessed by the demons. Why is that? Blessed One, because the Bodhisattva who will certainly arise in this category of Dharma will certainly arise in all paths of liberation." Then, the venerable Subhuti said to the son of the Dragon King, Manifestation: "Son of good family, what you said about attaining perfect enlightenment through the nature of mind, what is the nature of mind?" He replied: "Venerable Subhuti, whatever is the nature of Subhuti, that nature is the nature of mind." He asked: "What is the nature of Subhuti like?" He replied: "It is the nature of desire, hatred, and ignorance." He asked: "What is the nature of desire, hatred, and ignorance like?" He replied: "It is the nature of conception and various conceptions."
