Please explain the Dharma for the sake of (sentient beings). Then, the Blessed One spoke the following words to the Dragon King Anavatapta: Dragon King, for that reason, listen well and very carefully, and keep it in mind, and I will explain it to you. Blessed One, so be it, (the Dragon King) requested. Dragon King Anavatapta listened as the Blessed One said, and the Blessed One said to him the following words: Dragon King, if a Bodhisattva possesses one Dharma, he will cause the world, including the gods, to rejoice. What is the one Dharma? It is diligence in diligently applying oneself to the profound Dharma. So, what is diligence in diligently applying oneself to the profound Dharma? Dragon King, here, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva enters into dependent origination, and is free from both extremes of existence and non-existence, does not accept existence and non-existence, and truly sees that all dharmas arise from conditions. Not having truly seen the dharma arising from no cause, he thinks thus: Whatever dharma arises from a cause, that is what arises from conditions. Whatever arises from conditions, that is unborn. Whatever is unborn, that is emptiness. Whatever is emptiness, that is signless. Whatever is signless, that is wishless. Whatever is wishless, that is peaceful. Whatever is peaceful, that is completely peaceful. Whatever is completely peaceful, that is immovable. Whatever is immovable, that is naturally pure. Whatever is naturally pure, that is what arises from conditions. Whatever arises from conditions, that is without self, without mine. Whatever is without self, that is inexpressible in a way that is without clinging. Dragon King, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who is diligent relies on the four reliances. What are the four reliances? Rely on the meaning, not on the words; rely on wisdom, not on consciousness; rely on the definitive meaning, not on the provisional meaning; rely on the Dharma nature, not on the individual. These are the four reliances. So, what is meaning? What is wisdom? What is definitive meaning? What is Dharma nature? What is called meaning, emptiness is meaning. Whatever is meaning, it will not increase views.

It is done. That which is without characteristics is meaning; in that, one does not cause discriminations to increase. That which is without aspiration is meaning; in that, one does not cause the three realms to increase; this is called meaning. Lord of Nagas, furthermore, that which is called meaning is that which is without distinction between dharma and non-dharma. That which is the establishment of dharma, that which can be spoken of, cannot be spoken of by way of sound and words, and is without abiding, and the meaning of no-person; the designation applied to sentient beings and persons, this is called meaning. Furthermore, that which is called meaning is that which seeks the meaning of dharma, but does not seek attainment. How does a Bodhisattva seek the meaning of dharma, but not seek attainment? It is that one does not seek the eye, does not seek form, does not seek the ear and sound, does not seek the nose and smell, does not seek the tongue and taste, does not seek the body and touch, does not seek the mind, does not seek dharma, does not seek manifest clinging to form, does not seek feeling, does not seek perception, does not seek formation, does not seek manifest clinging to consciousness, does not seek manifest clinging to desire, form, and formlessness, does not seek manifest clinging to self, does not seek sentient beings, does not seek life, does not seek nourishment, does not seek a man, does not seek manifest clinging to a person, does not seek manifest clinging to the form body of the Thus-Gone One, does not seek manifest clinging to the letters of the dharma, does not seek manifest clinging to the assembly of the Sangha, does not seek manifest clinging to giving, does not seek ethics, does not seek patience, does not seek diligence, does not seek meditation, does not seek manifest clinging to wisdom, and does not seek manifest clinging to all dharmas. Thus, a Bodhisattva is called one who seeks the meaning of dharma. That which cannot be spoken of with the word 'meaning' regarding those meanings, this is called meaning. What is that wisdom? It is knowing that suffering does not arise, knowing that the origin has no imputation, knowing that cessation is utterly extinguished, knowing that the path
