More than all the parasols, eight thousand kinds of clothes of various colors, parasols, victory banners, and flags were visibly hung. On all the flags were strung nets of precious bells and chimes. When these were moved by the wind, they produced a pleasant and delightful sound. Food with a hundred flavors was also arranged. Then, after the Naga King Anavatapta made these arrangements, and that night had passed, his relatives and retinue, with their palms joined together, in order to invite and urge the Bhagavan, requested in verses: You are the source of wisdom, the treasury of wisdom's wealth! We request you, the knower of limitless wisdom! You possess great wisdom, without attachment to anything. Possessing the supreme power of wisdom, please come! For all the many sentient beings of the ten directions, you are the great sage who knows the conduct of their minds. I have invited you, the supreme person, great sage, I urge you to come! Few desires, content, easy to nourish, easy to satisfy. You are very wise, liberating from all suffering. Not speaking meaningless words, knowing the rituals of conduct. Bhagavan, you are without defilements, now is the time! Everywhere renowned, virtues and wisdom are supreme. Without being urged, always compassionate, acting as our spiritual friend. The Muni is pure, like the pure sky. Guide, it is time for a meal! You are without timidity, possessing the ten powers, having strength. The eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha are perfectly complete. The crown of your head is invisible, you possess great compassion. Protector, please come together with the Sangha! Your form is a supreme form, adorned with excellent marks. Your body is beautifully decorated with excellent signs. Teaching beneficial Dharma, making us extremely happy. Bhagavan, great Muni, this is the time! Having the voice of Brahma and a beautiful, gentle voice, the voice of Kalavinka subdues the lion's roar. With all supreme voices, you satisfy the world with happiness. Please look upon me with joy and please come! In this Buddha-field, there is no sentient being who desires the Tathagata's mind. Bhagavan knows the conduct of all beings. Please visit us always, this is the time! Here, many gods, humans, and nagas are gathered, possessing the power of the ten strengths, able to destroy the armies of others.

Please generate great compassion and subdue hundreds of thousands of nagas! The incomparable supreme among humans, please descend here! With a mind of benefit and compassion, delighting in benefiting beings! How to guide beings to the other shore, possessing wisdom! Skilled in distinguishing the conduct of the ten powers, skilled in proclaiming! Possessing mindfulness, awareness, and wisdom, here bestow the treasures of realization and wisdom! Then, the Blessed One, knowing that the time for the Naga King Anavatapta's urging had come, spoke to the monks: Monks, the Naga King Anavatapta urges, as if dwelling there for half a month, the one who manages the monastery should instruct to prepare the Dharma robes and begging bowl! Then, the Blessed One, surrounded and led by seventy-two thousand Bodhisattvas and two thousand great and powerful Shravakas, departed from Vulture Peak Mountain by means of miraculous power. Then, the Blessed One walked in the sky. From that body of light, light was emitted, illuminating the three thousand great thousand worlds, and the sons of the gods residing in the desire realm and the form realm, seeing the Blessed One surrounded by the great assembly, walking from the sky towards the great Naga Lake Anavatapta, they thought in their hearts: The Blessed One, surrounded by such a large retinue, will surely be teaching the Dharma in that place where he will dwell for half a month. Then, hundreds and thousands of gods followed behind. Those who wished to behold the Blessed One, those who wished to hear the Dharma, and those who wished to see the place and the splendor of the Naga King Anavatapta, all followed in the footsteps of the Blessed One.
