Then, Nyergyal turned his back and sat down, calling his retinue and saying these words: "Brahmin youths, listen to the faults of samsara! Remember that the world is tormented by old age and surrounded by the lord of death. To abandon these two, going forth is the best choice." Then, Pangnas Kye again spoke to the demon: "Holders of wise minds, having reached the end of the three sufferings, and knowing all the supreme dharmas, in no way can we be moved from this wisdom. To completely pacify desire, we constantly strive with steadfast minds. Do not change our wisdom with the form of a lion and the words of a fox." The gods who see the truth, all those who dwell in the sky, gave praise to those two noble beings, saying: "Noble beings, you two are excellent!" It is like this: going forth and manifestation are the supreme path that surpasses all the world. This path pacifies all suffering. This path enters the realm of activity of all the Tathagatas. It is like this: going forth and manifestation are the path praised and extolled by all the Buddhas, the Bhagavat. Then, that wicked demon was miserable and unhappy, with remorse in his heart, and immediately disappeared. When those five hundred servants were about to renounce from the Blessed One, the evil Mara, knowing this, in order to prevent the two of them from going to the ascetic Gautama, conjured a great abyss, a hundred yojanas deep, outside the great city of Rajagriha. Then, the Blessed One also manifested such a miraculous display, so that the wanderer Nigantha and Pan-sheng did not see that great abyss and walked straight on the right path. Again, the evil Mara conjured before the two of them a great mountain, firm, solid, unbreakable, without cracks, completely dense, hard, a thousand yojanas high, and also conjured thousands of lions, angry, fierce, cruel, and roaring loudly. The Blessed One, by the power of his splendor and miraculous abilities, made it so that those two noble men did not see the mountain, nor did they see the lions, nor did they hear the lions' roar, but went straight to where the Blessed One was. The Blessed One, surrounded by hundreds of thousands of attendants, was facing forward and teaching the Dharma. Then, the Blessed One said to the monks: 'Monks, look at these two noble men, they are the leaders of the assembly, possessing many servants.' They replied: 'Blessed One, we see them.' The Blessed One said: 'These two noble men and their servants, after renouncing in my presence, one will become the foremost in wisdom among all my Shravaka disciples, and the other will become the foremost in miraculous powers.' Then, a monk at that time spoke this verse: 'These two wise men with servants, possessing miraculous powers and fearless wisdom, the best of men has prophesied with beneficial deeds, I will greet them with respect and welcome.' Then, that monk rose from his seat and, together with many monks, laypeople, and renunciants, welcomed and entertained those two noble men. After that, those two noble men went to where the Blessed One was, and upon arriving, bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One.
