Solpa. Venerable one, how is it said that the essence of the Tathagatagarbha is empty and unmoving? The Buddha said: The Tathagatagarbha is the storehouse of the mind of arising and ceasing, its essence is empty, that is, unmoving. If you want to understand its characteristics, it is hidden and does not appear. The Tathagatagarbha is empty in nature, that is, unmoving. Liberated Bodhisattva asked the Buddha: Venerable one, how can one understand the characteristics of the mind of arising and ceasing? The Buddha taught: Bodhisattvas have neither what is feasible nor what is infeasible for Dharma. If there is already what is feasible and what is infeasible, then all thoughts arise and become empty, and thousands of thoughts shake, that is the image of arising and ceasing. If the Bodhisattva examines the characteristics of the external nature, the Dharma will naturally grow. Even if you think wildly, it will not help the Dharma of the Tao. Because shaking and disturbing will cause the external of the mind to lose its dominance. If there is no thought, arising and ceasing will not arise, and it will not shake as it is. If all kinds of consciousness are happy and empty, they will flow in and not be born in reincarnation, so as to obtain the five pure Dharmas. That is Mahayana, and when the Bodhisattva enters the five pure Dharmas, there is no falsehood in his heart. If there is no falsehood, then one can enter the holy and wonderful wisdom land of the Tathagata's own awareness. Entering the land of wisdom, one must skillfully know that everything does not arise from the outside. If you know that it does not arise from the outside, then there is no false mind at first. Liberated Bodhisattva asked the Buddha: Venerable one, if there are no false beings, then there is no reason to abandon or deny them. The Buddha said: Bodhisattvas, if they do not arise from the false outside, then falsehood is immeasurable. If you know that the mind has no mind, then the mind cannot be abandoned. If there is no difference and no distinction, the consciousness of the moment will not arise, so birth cannot be abandoned. That is what cannot be abandoned, and it does not exist. Why is that? Because there is abandonment and no abandonment. Liberated Bodhisattva asked the Buddha: Venerable one, the abandonment itself that has not been abandoned is also birth

How then can one be without birth? The Buddha said: If a Bodhisattva abandons birth, it is already abandoned, and there is no act of abandoning. For that which has no abandoning, there is also no attachment. If there is no attachment, how can there be birth? The Liberated Bodhisattva asked the Buddha: Venerable, what is there to accept and abandon in the mind of no-birth? What is the characteristic of the Dharma? The Buddha said: In the Dharma of no-birth, there is neither acceptance nor abandonment, abiding in no-mind, abiding in no-Dharma. The Liberated Bodhisattva asked the Buddha: Venerable, how does one abide in no-mind, abide in no-Dharma? The Buddha said: If the mind does not arise, then one abides in no-mind. Good man, if the Dharma of the mind does not arise, there is no abiding or reliance. If one is not attached to all actions, the mind is always empty and unmoving, without separate minds. It is like the sky, without movement or stillness, without hatred, without action, without mutual existence, obtaining the eye of the empty mind, obtaining the body of the empty Dharma, the five aggregates and six entrances are all empty and unmoving. Good man, practicing the Dharma of emptiness does not rely on the three realms, nor is it attached to the characteristics of precepts. There is no mind for purity, neither gathering nor abandoning. Its nature is like a diamond, the Three Jewels do not perish, and the Dharmas of emptiness are unmoving, possessing the six perfections. The Liberated Bodhisattva asked the Buddha: Venerable, since all six perfections have no characteristics, can the Dharma of no-characteristics transcend the world? The Buddha said: Good man, the six perfections I have spoken of have neither characteristics nor actions. Why? Because the wise enter into detachment from desire, the mind is always pure, and by using skillful means with truthful words, one benefits both oneself and others. This is the perfection of generosity. From a pure mind, one can endure, and the mind is never abiding. Being pure and unpolluted, and not attached to the three realms, this is the perfection of discipline. Practicing emptiness,
