Said: May those sentient beings and others together attain liberation. The Buddha said: Good son, you are skilled in my teaching of such causes arising from the world, revealing them to sentient beings, so that those sentient beings may obtain the fruits arising from the world. This is a very important matter, inconceivable. Practice great love, practice great compassion, for if I do not speak, I will fall into stinginess and greed. You and others should listen with one mind, and I will explain it to you. Good son, teaching and instructing sentient beings, there is no arising of the mind of teaching, and there is no arising of the mind of not teaching, that is called the great teacher. That is because all sentient beings are separated from my mind. All my minds are empty and unmoving from the beginning. Having obtained the empty mind, the mind will not transform into illusion. There is no illusion either. If there is no transformation, then one will attain the unborn. The unborn mind abides in the untransformed. The Liberating Bodhisattva asked the Buddha: Venerable One, the nature of sentient beings' minds is empty and unmoving from the beginning. If there are forms and signs in the mind that is empty and unmoving, then how can one practice and cultivate to obtain the empty mind of the beginning? Please, Buddha, with your compassionate heart, explain it to me. The Buddha said: Bodhisattva, the signs of all minds are without beginning from the beginning. From the beginning, there is no place of beginning, it is empty, unmoving, and unborn. If the mind is unborn, then it enters into the empty and unmoving state from the beginning. By the power of the empty and unmoving mind, one quickly obtains the empty mind. Good son, in the mind without signs, there is neither mind nor self, and the signs of all dharmas are the same. The Liberating Bodhisattva asked the Buddha: Venerable One, all sentient beings are attached to having a self and having a mind, by practicing what dharma can they become aware and thus liberate themselves from this bondage? The Buddha said: Good son, attachment to self is always placed in the twelve links of dependent origination. The twelve links of dependent origination initially arise from cause and effect. Cause

And the movement of fruits arises from the actions of the mind, so if there is no mind, what need is there to mention the absence of a body? If I exist, then what is seen should also be pacified. If I do not exist, then what is unseen should also be pacified. If the mind arises, then the nature of peace should also be pacified. If the mind is at peace, then the nature of arising should also be pacified. If the nature of seeing is pacified, then one enters the realm of true reality from the very beginning. Why is that? Because arising has not ceased from the very root. If there is no cessation and no arising, then there is no birth and no death, and all dharmas are the same. The Liberated Bodhisattva again asked the Buddha: Venerable One, when I see beings with karma and dharma arising, what kind of seeing should I pacify? The Buddha replied: Venerable One, when a Bodhisattva sees karma and dharma arising, that too should be pacified. Dharma should be pacified, and seeing should also be pacified. If seeing is pacified, then one obtains the true dharma of non-existence, enters into the unchanging nature, and there is no birth in the unchanging. The Liberated Bodhisattva asked the Buddha: Venerable One, if these beings abide in the unborn, is that their unborn state? The Buddha replied: Abiding in the unborn is not birth itself. Why is that? Because if there is no abiding and no arising, then from the beginning there is no birth. The Bodhisattva, by practicing birth and non-birth, eliminates the mind of birth. If arising and pacification are eliminated simultaneously, then the root of my arising will not arise, and the mind will always be empty and unmoving. If it is empty and unmoving, there is no attachment, then the mind has no attachment, and from the beginning there is no birth. The Liberated Bodhisattva again asked the Buddha: Venerable One, if the mind has no attachment, then what is the use of learning and practice? Or rather, what is the use of learning? The Buddha replied: The Bodhisattva arises from the mind of non-birth, and there is no entering mind, the root is the treasury of the Tathagata, the nature is empty and unmoving, so it is neither with learning nor without learning. Having learning and not having learning, and neither having nor not having, that is no learning. That which is not no learning is called learning. The Liberated Bodhisattva to the Buddha
