They circled around and slowly ascended into the sky above. Then, they entered through the west gate again, emerged from the east gate, circled from the right, and entered the north gate. Then, they slowly ascended into the sky again, emerged from the south gate, circled from the right, and entered the north gate, circling four times in this way. Similarly, they circled the city of Kushinagar from the right seven times. At that time, when the coffin of the seven precious substances entered the city, all the numerous attendants wept with tears streaming down their faces, each carrying countless fragrant sandalwood trees, as well as precious fragrant trees with patterns and fragrance, filling all realms of the world with aroma. Furthermore, they arranged precious victory banners, flags, umbrellas, incense, flowers, and countless necklaces, making offerings at the place where the Tathagata was cremated. At that time, the great protectors of the four directions, together with their retinues of gods, wept and brought divine sandalwood and agarwood, all fragrant inside and out, with intense fragrance, five hundred pieces as large as chariot wheels, as well as other precious incense, precious victory banners, precious sacred umbrellas, and flower garlands, etc., and arrived at the cremation site to make offerings. The gods of the second heaven arranged a thousand pieces of wood. The gods of the third heaven arranged two thousand pieces of wood. The gods of the fourth heaven arranged three thousand pieces of wood. The gods of the fifth heaven arranged four thousand pieces of wood. The gods of the sixth heaven arranged about five thousand pieces of wood, each carrying flags and flowers, etc., weeping and arriving at the cremation site to make offerings. At that time, the gods of the realms of form and the formless realms only carried incense and flowers, arriving at the cremation site to make offerings. Then, the numerous attendants, including those of the world, also each carried fragrant sandalwood trees, agarwood, flowers, incense, flags, and umbrellas, etc., weeping and arriving at the cremation site to make offerings. At that time, without ceasing, their eyes filled with tears, weeping intensely, the gods and humans used sandalwood wood.

And, there were more than six thousand agarwood trees, possessing patterns and fragrance, all of which were extremely rich, piled up, and placed at the cremation site. Lake Madrota (mTsho ma dros pa, Undying Lake) had four sides of equal width, measuring two hundred yojanas, and four great rivers flowed into it. When the Bhagavan first attained perfect enlightenment, on the northern bank of the Ganges River, a sandalwood tree grew, its trunk as thick as a chariot wheel, and its height as tall as seven palm trees. Its fragrance was extremely rich, and it was used to make offerings to the Tathagata. The tree deity was also born simultaneously with the tree, and constantly used this incense to make offerings to all Buddhas. When the Buddha entered Nirvana, this sandalwood tree also withered, shedding its leaves and bark, and the tree deity also died there. Afterwards, the other gods took the tree away, transported it to the cremation site, and made offerings. This land is the cremation site for all Buddhas of the past, present, and future. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, by the power of his past aspirations, cremated his body at this very place. In this place, there are also countless precious stupas of the Buddhas of the past. This place is indestructible like a diamond and extremely stable. At that time, the Tathagata's coffin slowly ascended into the sky and reached the cremation site, gradually descending lower and lower, and was placed on a throne of seven jewels, adorned with silk curtains and garlands. From that time on, seven days passed. At that time, all the men and women of Kushinagar, as well as countless Bodhisattvas, Shravakas, and all the gods of the Thirty-Three Heavens (Trayastrimsa), were heartbroken with grief and wept bitterly, holding banners, umbrellas, jeweled victory banners, incense, flowers, and so on, following behind the Buddha's coffin for seven days. However, due to the Buddha's blessings, all the gods and humans did not feel thirst or hunger. They did not think of food, but only wept because they remembered the Tathagata. Thus, after the Tathagata's body had been placed in the coffin for seven days, when it was taken out of the coffin, the men and women of Kushinagar, as well as the retinue
