于是，迦叶（འོད་སྲུང་）心想，我也出生在这座城市里，如果我乞求供养的物品，一定能得到，于是就和眷属们一起，逐渐地向那座城市乞讨。逐渐乞讨后，得到了上好的白色细布一千匹。除此之外，还得到了无数的木棉，无量的珍宝花朵，涂香，香水，香油，珍宝幢，珍宝伞，幡旗，乐器，各种各样的项链，丝绸的幡带等等。然后，迦叶（འོད་སྲུང་）和眷属们一起，带着乞讨到的供养物品，迅速地来到城市的西门。迦叶（འོད་སྲུང་）在焚烧遗体的地方，听到了许多眷属都在非常悲伤地哭泣，发出哀嚎的声音。所有人都向帝释天（བརྒྱ་བྱིན་）询问，现在做了供养，从焚烧的火焰中能得到什么？也听到了帝释天（བརྒྱ་བྱིན་）对众多眷属说，暂时要为迦叶（འོད་སྲུང་）停留。听到帝释天（བརྒྱ་བྱིན་）对众多眷属说了这些话之后，大迦叶（འོད་སྲུང་ཆེན་པོ་）和眷属们一起哭着来到了那里。眷属们让开了一条路，迦叶（འོད་སྲུང་）从远处看到了佛陀的舍利塔，和眷属们一起顶礼膜拜，非常悲伤地哭泣，发出哀嚎声，然后昏了过去。过了一会儿，醒了过来，慢慢地靠近舍利塔，对众多眷属们说道：我该如何打开这神圣的舍利塔呢？眷属们说道：世尊（བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་）圆寂（ཡོངས་སུ་མྱ་ངན་ལས་འདས་）到今天已经过了三个七天了，如果认为已经腐烂了，又该如何打开塔呢？迦叶（འོད་སྲུང་）说道：如来（དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པ་）的身体像金刚一样坚硬，稳固，恒常，安乐，完全清净，不会坏灭，功德的香气非常浓郁，就像旃檀山一样。说完，非常悲伤地哭泣，靠近了如来（དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པ་）的舍利塔。当时，如来（དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པ་）的大慈悲平等地遍及一切，为了迦叶（འོད་སྲུང་）的缘故，舍利塔的盖子自己打开了，露出了用一千匹白布包裹的遗体。

Then, Kāśyapa (འོད་སྲུང་) thought, "I was also born in this city. If I beg for offerings, I will surely obtain them." So, together with his retinue, he gradually begged in that city. After begging gradually, he obtained a thousand pieces of excellent white linen. In addition to that, he also obtained countless cotton, immeasurable precious flowers, scented ointment, perfume, scented oil, precious banners, precious umbrellas, flags, musical instruments, various kinds of necklaces, silk streamers, and so on. Then, Kāśyapa (འོད་སྲུང་), together with his retinue, took the offerings he had obtained and quickly arrived at the western gate of the city. At the place where Kāśyapa (འོད་སྲུང་) was about to cremate the body, he heard the sound of many members of the retinue weeping very sadly and wailing. Everyone asked Indra (བརྒྱ་བྱིན་), "Now that we have made offerings, what can we obtain from the cremation fire?" He also heard Indra (བརྒྱ་བྱིན་) saying to the many members of the retinue, "Wait for Kāśyapa (འོད་སྲུང་) for a while." As soon as he heard Indra (བརྒྱ་བྱིན་) saying these words to the many members of the retinue, the great Kāśyapa (འོད་སྲུང་ཆེན་པོ་), together with his retinue, arrived there weeping. The members of the retinue made way, and Kāśyapa (འོད་སྲུང་) saw the stupa of the Buddha from afar. Together with his retinue, he prostrated and wept very sadly, wailing, and then fainted. After a while, he woke up and slowly approached the stupa, saying to the many members of the retinue, "How should I open this sacred stupa?" The members of the retinue said, "It has been three weeks since the Blessed One (བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་) passed into complete nirvana (ཡོངས་སུ་མྱ་ངན་ལས་འདས་) today. If you think it has decayed that much, how can we open the stupa?" Kāśyapa (འོད་སྲུང་) said, "The body of the Tathagata (དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པ་) is as hard as a diamond, firm, constant, blissful, completely pure, and indestructible. The fragrance of his qualities is very strong, like a sandalwood mountain." Having said this, he wept very sadly and approached the stupa of the Tathagata (དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པ་). At that time, the great compassion of the Tathagata (དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པ་) equally pervaded all, and for the sake of Kāśyapa (འོད་སྲུང་), the lid of the stupa opened by itself, revealing the body wrapped in a thousand pieces of white cloth.

用棉花缠绕也自然脱落，三十二相和八十随形好庄严，如纯金的颜色一般，坚固的身体显现于迦叶面前。迦叶及其眷属见到那样的情景，非常悲伤，昏厥倒地。之后过了很久才醒来，眼含泪水，与眷属们一起登上用香木堆砌的台子，靠近灵柩，哀号哭泣，用鲜花、香、胜幢、伞、幡、璎珞和音乐等供养。用香膏和香水清洗如来纯金色的身体，用香熏，用鲜花散布，哭泣着做供养。那样清洗后，迦叶及其眷属用尽所能找到的棉花缠绕如来的身体。在上面也缠绕旧棉花。在上面缠绕一千匹新漂白的白布。在上面也缠绕一千匹旧布。那样多次缠绕如来的身体后，也盖上灵柩的盖子，用七宝严饰。那时，迦叶非常悲伤，与眷属一起从右绕七圈，眼含泪水，合掌，右膝着地，说了这首偈颂：唉！唉！圣者世尊！我被痛苦深深折磨。您没有以大悲心眷顾我，为何迅速入灭？在鹫峰山上入定时，四处观看也看不到如来。看到世尊入灭，非常颤抖，心也惊慌。世界也变得黑暗，山和大地也剧烈摇动。在那里意识到世尊入灭，迅速赶去也没有见到世尊。世尊的慈悲没有覆盖我，所以我没有见到佛陀入灭。您没有给我留下一个教言，我没有怙主，该如何安住？世尊，我痛苦

Even when wrapped in cotton, it naturally unwound, and the body adorned with the thirty-two major marks and eighty minor marks of excellence, like the color of pure gold, firm and stable, was revealed to Kashyapa. Kashyapa and his retinue, upon seeing such a sight, wept bitterly and fainted, falling to the ground. After a long time, they regained consciousness, their eyes filled with tears, and together with their retinue, they ascended a platform built of fragrant wood. Approaching the coffin, they lamented and wailed, offering flowers, incense, victory banners, umbrellas, streamers, necklaces, and music, among other things. They washed the Tathagata's body, which was like the color of pure gold, with fragrant oils and water, fumigated it with incense, scattered flowers, and made offerings while weeping. After washing in this way, Kashyapa and his retinue wrapped the Tathagata's body with whatever cotton they could find. On top of that, they also wrapped old cotton. On top of that, they wrapped a thousand newly bleached white cloths. On top of that, they also wrapped a thousand old cloths. In this way, after wrapping the Tathagata's body in many layers, they also closed the lid of the coffin, which was highly adorned with the seven precious substances. At that time, Kashyapa wept bitterly and, together with his retinue, circumambulated the coffin seven times from the right, their eyes filled with tears, palms joined. Kneeling with his right knee on the ground, he spoke these verses: Alas, alas, noble Bhagavan! I am tormented by great suffering. Without showing me your great compassion, why did you pass into nirvana so quickly? When you were in meditative equipoise on Vulture Peak Mountain, even when looking everywhere, I did not see the Tathagata. Seeing that the Bhagavan had passed into nirvana, I trembled greatly, and my mind was also frightened. The world realm also became dark, and the mountains and great earth also shook violently. Realizing there that the Bhagavan had passed into nirvana, even though I went quickly, I did not see the Bhagavan. Because the Bhagavan's compassion did not cover me, I did not see the Buddha pass into nirvana. Since you did not leave me a single teaching, I have no protector; where shall I abide? Bhagavan, I am suffering.
