The great hero is also the same. If he hears this Great Nirvana Sutra, he will gain wisdom. In order to gain wisdom, he will be single-minded in the five faculties. If the mind is not distracted, it will become the right mindfulness. Why is that? It is for the sake of the wisdom of mindfulness. Son of good family, a skilled herdsman will drive the livestock back if they run into the field and will not let them eat the crops. Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is also the same. He protects and gathers the five faculties of the wisdom of mindfulness, and for this reason, he will not be scattered everywhere. Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, whoever has the wisdom of mindfulness, will not see the nature of self. He will not see the self and the nature of self. He will not see sentient beings. He will not see the objects of action. Because he sees that all dharmas are in accordance with the nature of dharma, he will generate the nature of earth, gravel, and pebbles. Just as a house is born from many causes and conditions and does not have the nature of being cut off into one, sentient beings are also born from the four great elements and the five aggregates. If observed, there is no definite nature. Because there is no definite nature, the Bodhisattva will not develop attachment and clinging to them. All ignorant and foolish ordinary people, because they see that sentient beings exist, will generate afflictions. Bodhisattva-Mahasattva diligently practices the Great Nirvana, and because he has the wisdom of mindfulness, he will not generate attachment and clinging to sentient beings. Furthermore, Bodhisattva-Mahasattva diligently practices the Great Nirvana Sutra, and he will not be attached to the nature of sentient beings, but will practice the nature of various dharmas. Son of good family, for example, if a painter uses various colors to paint various images of children or girls, or cows, or horses, ignorant and foolish people will see them and generate the nature of children and girls, etc. But the painter fully understands that there are no children and girls, etc. Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is also the same. He realizes the nature of various different dharmas as one nature, so he will not generate the nature of sentient beings. Why is that? Because he has the wisdom of mindfulness.

Therefore. Bodhisattvas, great beings, who are diligent in the great Nirvana, if they see a beautiful woman, they will never give rise to desire and attachment. Why is that? Because they deeply understand the nature of things. Sons of good family, Bodhisattvas, great beings, find no joy, no happiness, and no permanence in the five desires. They are like: A dog gnawing on a dry bone, holding a torch and walking against the wind, a vessel of poisonous snakes, something obtained in a dream, a fruit tree by the roadside that everyone picks, all the birds roosting on a bare tree, a water bubble, drawing lines on water, the thread of weaving running out, a prisoner being led to execution, and like illusions that do not last long. Thus, they understand that desire has many faults. Furthermore, when Bodhisattvas, great beings, contemplate sentient beings, they realize that due to the causes and conditions of form, sound, smell, taste, and touch, they constantly experience suffering from immeasurable and countless eons. The bones accumulated from the bodies of each sentient being in one eon would be greater than the mountain of Rajagriha (王舍城). The breast milk they have drunk is more than the water of the four great oceans. The blood that has flowed from their bodies is more than the four great oceans. The tears wept by their parents, siblings, wives, children, and relatives when they die are more than the four great oceans. If all the grass and trees of this great earth were cut into four-finger lengths and used to count parents, they could not be counted. For immeasurable eons, sentient beings have been transformed into hell beings, animals, and hungry ghosts, experiencing many sufferings that cannot be spoken or counted. If all of this great earth were rolled up into the size of jujube seeds, there would be an end to it, but samsara (轮回) has no end. Bodhisattvas, great beings, thus contemplate all sentient beings and realize that they experience immeasurable suffering due to the causes and conditions of desire. Bodhisattvas do not lose their wisdom of mindfulness because of the suffering of the actions of samsara. Sons of good family, for example, destroying.
