The meaning of what was said, "They will not generate the mind of perfect and complete enlightenment," is not like that. Why is that? It is because they too will become perfect and complete enlightenment. Even those with wrong views, because of the Buddha-nature, whether they hear or do not hear, all will become perfect and complete enlightenment. World Honored One, as the World Honored One said, "Those called wrong-view holders are those who have severed the roots of virtue," that is also not so. Why is that? It is because the Buddha-nature has not been severed. Thus, since the Buddha-nature is of a nature that cannot be severed, why did the World Honored One say, "Those who have severed the roots of virtue"? As the World Honored One previously said in the twelve divisions of scripture, there are two kinds of virtue: the permanent and the impermanent. The permanent cannot be severed, and the impermanent can be severed. If beings fall into hell because the impermanent can be severed, why does the permanent, which cannot be severed, not prevent it? Since the Buddha-nature cannot be severed, they are not wrong-view holders, why did the Tathagata say they were wrong-view holders? World Honored One, if the mind of perfect and complete enlightenment arises due to the condition of the Buddha-nature, why did the Tathagata extensively teach the twelve divisions of scripture to sentient beings? World Honored One, for example, all four great rivers arise from Lake Anavatapta (梵文:Anavatapta,无热恼池), if a human, a god, or the Buddha World Honored One were to say that the great rivers do not flow into the ocean but return to the place where they first arose, there is no such place. The mind of enlightenment is also like that; because there is Buddha-nature, whether one hears or does not hear, whether one upholds morality or does not uphold morality, whether one gives or does not give, whether one practices or does not practice, whether one has wisdom or does not have wisdom, all will attain perfect and complete enlightenment. World Honored One, for example, the sun rises from the so-called Udayana Mountain (梵文:Udayana)
