Likewise, the body of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, being completely pure, is similar to this. If the nectar of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment is poured into it, both inside and outside become pure. Son of good family, for example, the cloth of Varanasi is extremely white, and if dyed, it easily changes color. Why is that? Because it is naturally white and pure. Similarly, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva quickly attains unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment because their body is pure. Therefore, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should accomplish a completely pure body. How then is a Bodhisattva extremely skilled in causes? A Bodhisattva-Mahasattva does not see the characteristics of form, does not see the cause of form, does not see the nature of form, does not see the arising of form, does not see the cessation of form, does not see the same characteristics, does not see different characteristics, does not see seeing, does not see form and shape, and does not see taking. Why is that? Because of completely understanding causes and conditions. Just as form is, so are all dharmas the same. This is called a Bodhisattva being skilled in causes. How then does a Bodhisattva abandon enemies? Like this, all afflictions are enemies of the Bodhisattva. Because the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva constantly abandons them, it is called the Bodhisattva subduing enemies. A Bodhisattva on the fifth ground does not regard afflictions as enemies. Why is that? Because due to afflictions, Bodhisattvas have rebirths, and because they have rebirths, they continuously benefit sentient beings, therefore they are not called enemies. What then is called an enemy? Like this, slandering the extensive sutras. Although Bodhisattvas follow rebirth, they do not fear the hells of sentient beings, the birthplaces of animals, and pretas, but only fear slandering the extensive sutras. All Bodhisattvas have eight kinds of maras, which are enemies. Abandoning those eight kinds of maras is called abandoning enemies.

Sa-bya, which means that the Bodhisattva abandons all enemies. So how does a Bodhisattva abandon the two extremes? The so-called two extremes refer to the twenty-five existences and the afflictions of existence. Bodhisattvas constantly abandon the twenty-five existences and the afflictions of existence, which is what is meant by a Bodhisattva abandoning the two extremes. These Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas are those who diligently practice the Great Nirvana and possess four qualities. Then, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva Samantabhadra, the noble and glorious king, asked: "World Honored One, as the World Honored One has said, if a Bodhisattva diligently practices the Great Nirvana, he needs these ten kinds of virtuous things. Why did the Tathagata only do nine and not cultivate the complete purification of the Buddha-land?" The World Honored One said: "Son of good family, I also cultivated these ten things in the past. All Bodhisattvas and other Tathagatas have never not cultivated these ten things. If the world is completely filled with impurity, the Buddhas and World Honored Ones will not appear in such places. Son of good family, do not think that the Tathagatas will appear in an impure world. Such a thought is extremely weak and small. You should understand it this way, just as someone says that only this Jambudvipa has the sun and moon, and other worlds do not have the sun and moon, such a statement is unreasonable. If a Bodhisattva says that this Buddha-land is dirty, ugly, and impure, while other Buddha-lands are completely pure and extremely magnificent, it is similar to that. Son of good family, from this Saha world to the west, after passing through Buddha-lands equivalent to the sands of thirty-two Ganges rivers, there is a world called Non-Regression."

There is such a thing. Why is that Buddha-field called 'Non-Regression'? Because all the things arranged in that Buddha-field are equal and without distinction. It is like the Pure Land of the Western World and the Full Moon World of the Eastern World. I will appear in that world, and for the benefit of sentient beings, I will show the turning of the Dharma wheel in this world of Jambudvipa. It is not only I who show the turning of the Dharma wheel in this world, but all Tathagatas also turn the Dharma wheel in this world. Therefore, all Buddhas, the World Honored Ones, have not failed to practice these ten things. Noble son, Maitreya Bodhisattva, by the power of his vows, will completely purify and adorn this world in the future. For this reason, there is no Buddha-field that is not completely pure. Furthermore, noble son, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, by diligently studying the Mahaparinirvana Sutra, become endowed with five qualities? Noble son, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who diligently studies the Mahaparinirvana Sutra is endowed with five qualities, there are five things, what are the five? Being endowed with the faculties, not being born in the borderlands, being remembered by the gods, constantly being revered by gods, demons, ascetics, kings, Brahmins, etc., and remembering past lives. A Bodhisattva, by the power of the causes and conditions of the Mahaparinirvana Sutra, will be endowed with these five qualities. Bodhisattva Mahasattva Samantabhadra, the noble and glorious king, asked: As the World Honored One said, if a noble son or noble daughter gives alms, they will be endowed with five qualities. If that is the case, why is it said that one can obtain five things through the causes and conditions of the Mahaparinirvana? The World Honored One replied: Good! Good!
