Ra. Encountering a Tathagata is as rare as the Udumbara flower, and now I have encountered one. Seeing and hearing the pure Dharma Jewel is as difficult as a blind turtle encountering a yoke hole, and now I have heard it. Human life does not stay, it is as swift as a deer on a steep mountain. Though present today, it may not appear tomorrow, why then does the mind dwell on unwholesome Dharma with frivolous thoughts? Youth also does not stay, it is even faster than a galloping horse, why then rely on it to generate pride and arrogance? Like a fierce hungry ghost seeking an opportunity to harm people, the four great hungry ghosts are also like that. They are always seeking opportunities to find my faults, why then generate unwholesome thoughts? Just as a decaying house is about to collapse, my life is also like that, why then create unwholesomeness? I am called a Shramana, and the meaning of Shramana is to contemplate good thoughts. If I now generate unwholesome thoughts, how can I be called a Shramana? I am called a renunciant, and the meaning of a renunciant is to cultivate the path of virtue. If I now practice unwholesomeness, how can I be called a renunciant? I am called a Brahmin, and the meaning of a Brahmin is to practice purity. If I practice impurity and generate unwholesome thoughts, how can I be called a Brahmin? I am also called a Kshatriya, and the meaning of a Kshatriya is to be able to conquer enemies. If I now cannot conquer the unwholesome enemy, how can I be called a Kshatriya? I am also called a Bhikshu, and the meaning of a Bhikshu is to subdue afflictions, if I now do not subdue the unwholesome

Having obtained it. Therefore, one thinks, this is the race that generates unwholesome thoughts. That Bodhisattva, at that time, diligently engaged in the Great Nirvana Sutra in this way, always regarding the unwholesome mind as diligence. All the inferior people do not see the faults of such an unwholesome mind, so they take three kinds of discriminations, therefore it is called leakage. The Bodhisattva sees it and does not take it, does not cling to it, completely abandons it, does not guard it, and relies on the Noble Eightfold Path to expel and cut it off. Therefore, if the Bodhisattva does not take leakage, why say that the Tathagata has leakage? The matter is like this, so the Tathagata is not with leakage. Son of good family, if the inferior people are tormented by suffering in body and mind, various kinds of unwholesomeness will arise. If there is illness in the body or in the mind, one will create various kinds of unwholesome deeds with body, speech, and mind. After committing unwholesome deeds, one will revolve in the three evil realms and fully experience suffering. Why is that? Because the inferior people do not have mindfulness and wisdom, so various kinds of leakage arise, which is called the leakage of mindfulness. The Bodhisattva Mahasattva always thinks like this: In the past, for countless kalpas, I have committed various kinds of unwholesome deeds because of this body and mind.

A feeling of disgust arose, and abandoning the snake's vessel, he fled. Then the king sent five butchers of low caste, armed with swords, to pursue him closely. The man looked back and, seeing five men coming from behind, fled even faster. Then the five men, by deceitful means, hid the swords they were carrying, and one man approached, feigning closeness and friendliness, and said to him, "Come back." The man did not believe him and, to hide and escape, went to a city. Entering the city, he looked at all the houses, but not a single person was to be seen. Looking inside the pottery and vessels, he saw that everything was empty and there was nothing at all. He neither saw any people nor found any possessions, and sat down on the ground. From the empty sky came a voice: "O son of good family, not a single person dwells in this empty city, and tonight six fierce enemies will come. If you meet them, your life will not be spared, so why are you being lazy?" Then the man, even more terrified, came out of there and fled, and on the road he met a great river. The river was very swift, and there were no boats or rafts, but because of his fear, he gathered a lot of grass and wood and made a raft. He thought to himself, "If I stay here, I will be harmed by the venomous snake, the five butchers of low caste, the deceitful friend, and the six fierce enemies. If I cross this river, the raft will not be stable and I will be drowned and die. Even if I drown and die, I will not be harmed by the snake and the enemies above." Thinking this, he pushed the grass raft into the water and sat on it, paddling with his hands and pushing with his feet, and crossed the river. He reached the opposite bank safely, and his mind and heart were at ease, and he was without fear or dread. Bodhisattvas, great beings, having heard this sutra of the Great Nirvana, and holding it in mind, should also realize that the body is like a vessel. Earth, water, fire, and wind are like four venomous snakes. They should realize them as like the poison of sight, the poison of touch, the poison of breath, and the poison of food. Thi
