Thus, all dharmas with defilements are called the arising of external dharmas. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Vaidurya Light said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, if there is arising in dharmas with defilements, is it permanent or impermanent? If that arising is permanent, then there is no arising in dharmas with defilements. If that arising is impermanent, then dharmas with defilements will become impermanent. Blessed One, if it is said that arising itself produces arising, then arising has no characteristics. If others can produce arising, then for what reason, what condition, do undefiled dharmas not arise? Blessed One, if there is no arising at the time of non-arising, then why is it initially established as arising? If there is no arising at the time of non-arising, why is it not said that there is arising in space? The Blessed One said: Good! Good! Son of good family, non-arising is also unspeakable, arising non-arising is also unspeakable, non-arising non-non-arising is also unspeakable, arising is also unspeakable, non-arising is also unspeakable. However, it can also be spoken through cause and condition. How is it that non-arising is unspeakable? How can one say that there is arising for non-arising? Why is that? That is also because of arising. How is it that arising is unspeakable? Because arising has arisen, there is arising; because arising has arisen, it is non-arising, therefore it is unspeakable. How is it that arising non-arising is unspeakable? Arising itself is called arisen, because arising itself is not arising, therefore it is unspeakable. How is it that non-arising non-non-arising is also unspeakable? That non-arising is called Nirvana, Nirvana is without arising, therefore it is unspeakable. Why is that? Because it is obtained through cultivating the path. Arising is also unspeakable, because that arising itself is without arising. How is it that non-arising is unspeakable? Because there is attainment. How is it that it can also be spoken through cause and condition? The twelve links of dependent origination become the cause of arising

Hey! That's how it is, so it can be said. Son of the lineage, do not indulge in the very profound samadhi of emptiness. Why is that? Because many of the retinue are dull-witted. Son of the lineage, conditioned dharmas are: birth is also constant. Merely abiding in impermanence, birth is also impermanent. Abiding is also not constant, because birth has already arisen, so abiding is also impermanent. Change is also not constant, because there is no constancy in dharmas, so change is also impermanent. Decay is also constant, because from the beginning it was not, but now it is, so decay is also impermanent. Son of the lineage, as for the nature, birth, abiding, change, and decay are also constant, because they cease moment by moment, so it cannot be said to be constant. Great Nirvana is cessation and stopping, so it is called impermanent. Son of the lineage, defiled dharmas, when unarisen, have the nature of arising, so they arise through creation. Undefiled dharmas, from the beginning, do not have the nature of arising, so they cannot arise through creation. Just as fire has the nature of fire, and when it meets with conditions, it burns, and the eye has the nature of seeing, and through the conditions of form, light, and consciousness, it can see, so too is the birth of sentient beings similar, from the beginning having nature, through the causes and conditions of karma, and the union of parents, birth comes into being. Then, Bodhisattva Mahasattva Vaiḍūrya Light, and eighty-four thousand Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, having heard these teachings, rose to the height of seven tala trees in the sky above, respectfully folded their palms, and said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, the Tathagata has repeatedly taught us, and through the cause of this Great Nirvana, we have heard what we had not heard before, and have realized it, and eighty-four thousand Bodhisattvas have also thoroughly realized the non-arising and arising of all dharmas, and so on. Blessed One, I have completely realized everything, and have cut through the net of doubt, but in this mandala of retinue, there are Bodhisattvas who do not
