The Noble Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra, Chapter Twenty-Eight. The Noble Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra, Chapter Twenty-Eight. The Noble Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra, Chapter Twenty-Eight. Then, the Blessed One said to the Bodhisattva Mahāsattva Samantadarśana High Noble Glorious King: "Son of good family, if a Bodhisattva Mahāsattva practices yoga with this Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra, he will obtain ten kinds of qualities. These qualities are not shared by Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and are inconceivable. Just hearing them is amazing. It is not internal, not external, not difficult, not easy, not characteristic, not non-characteristic, not worldly dharma, because things without characteristics and shapes do not exist in the world. What are these ten aspects? Each has five aspects. What are the five? One will hear what has not been heard, what has been heard will turn into beneficial meaning, doubts and wavering minds will be cut off, wisdom will be without deceit, and one will understand the profound meaning spoken by the Tathāgata after contemplation. What is meant by 'what has not been heard will be heard'? For example, the meaning spoken after contemplation is very profound, that is, all sentient beings have Buddha-nature, there is no difference between Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, the nature and characteristics of the Three Jewels are permanence, bliss, self, and purity, and all Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, will ultimately not pass into nirvāṇa, but are constant, abiding, unchanging, and unmoving. The nirvāṇa of the Tathāgata is not existence, not non-existence, not conditioned, not unconditioned, not defiled, not undefiled, not form, not non-form, not name, not non-name, not characteristic, not non-characteristic, not being, not non-being, not substance, not non-substance, not cause, not effect, not dependent, not independent, not light, not darkness, not arising, not non-arising, not permanent, not impermanent.
