The unsurpassed man who tames and guides, the teacher of gods and humans, the Buddha Bhagavan abides there. Wherever he teaches the Dharma, there is not a single sentient being in that realm who does not hear it. That Buddha teaches this Great Nirvana Sutra to a Bodhisattva Mahasattva named Vaiḍūrya Light. The Bhagavan said: "Son of good family, any Bodhisattva Mahasattva who diligently studies the Great Nirvana Sutra will hear everything that they have not heard before." Thus he taught. The Bodhisattva Mahasattva named Vaiḍūrya Light asked the Buddha Moon Increasing Light, and how it is the same as the question asked by the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Universally Illuminating Noble Glorious King in the past, there is no difference. The Buddha Moon Increasing Light said to the Bodhisattva Vaiḍūrya Light: "Son of good family, from here to the west, after passing twenty times the number of sands of the Ganges River of Buddha lands, there is a world called Saha. In that Saha world, it is completely filled with mountains, rocks, valleys, dangerous places, gravel, thorns, and other unpleasant things. They are always tormented by the suffering of hunger, thirst, cold, and heat. The people of that land do not respect renunciants, Brahmins, parents, teachers, and lamas. They are attached to non-Dharma, desire and are attached to non-Dharma, practice wrong Dharma, do not believe in the holy Dharma, have very short lifespans, and if there are evildoers, the king punishes them with penalties. Although the kings have land and power, they are not content and do not know satisfaction. They generate a mind of desire for the wealth of others, and many die suddenly from being attacked by war. Because the king practices non-Dharma in this way, the four great kings and the virtuous gods are displeased, so there is a great drought, rice and barley do not grow, human diseases increase, and they are tormented by many immeasurable sufferings. In that place, there is the Bhagavan Shakyamuni, the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha, complete with knowledge and conduct, Sugata."

Mundane knowledge, the unsurpassed, taming men and acting as a charioteer, the teacher of gods and humans, the Buddha, the Bhagavan, whose great compassion is especially great. Out of compassion for sentient beings, under the Sal tree in the city of Kusha, he teaches this great Nirvana Sutra to many attendants. Then, the Bodhisattva named Kuntunangwa Thobtsun Palgyi Gyalpo also asked about this, saying that he is no different from you. The Bhagavan also instructed him in this way, saying, "Go quickly, and it will be heard." The Bhagavan Bodhisattva Vairochana Light, having heard such things, together with eighty-four thousand Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas, came here, and this was a sign, and because of that cause and that condition, this light appeared. That can also be called cause and condition, but it is neither cause nor condition. Then, Bodhisattva Vairochana Light, together with eighty-four thousand Bodhisattvas, with banners and umbrellas, with flowers and incense, with garlands and musical instruments, arranged many kinds of offerings that were more excellent than before. All of them arrived here under the Sal tree in the city of Kusha, and each of them offered the Bhagavan with offerings. They bowed their heads to the feet of the Bhagavan, folded their palms respectfully, circumambulated the Buddha three times with devotion, and stayed in one place. Then, the Bhagavan said to those Bodhisattvas: "Son of the lineage, have you come here? Have you not come here?" Bodhisattva Vairochana Light replied: "Bhagavan, coming has no coming, and not coming has no coming. I understand that meaning, so there is no coming. Bhagavan, if all phenomena were permanent, there would be no coming, and if they were impermanent, there would be no coming. If ordinary beings see the nature of sentient beings, there is no coming or not coming. If I have not seen the certainty of the nature of sentient beings, why should I come? Why should I not come?"

Those with pride see no going and coming. Those without pride have no going and coming. Those who take hold see no going and coming, those who do not take hold have no going and coming. Those who see the Tathagata as ultimately entering nirvana see going and coming. Those who do not see the Tathagata as ultimately entering nirvana see no going and coming. Those who do not see the Buddha-nature see coming and going. Those who see the Buddha-nature have no coming and going. Those who see that Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas have nirvana see going and coming. Those who do not see Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas entering nirvana have no going and coming. Those who see that Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas have permanence, bliss, self, and purity have going and coming. Those who do not see it that way have no going and coming. Those who see that the Tathagata has no permanence, bliss, self, and purity have going and coming. Those who see that the Tathagata has permanence, bliss, self, and purity have no going and coming. World Honored One, let us set this aside for a moment. If I may ask a few questions, I beseech you to grant me the opportunity out of compassion. The World Honored One said: Son of good family, now is the time. Ask whatever you wish, and I will explain it to you in detail. Why? Because it is extremely difficult to encounter the Buddhas, the World Honored Ones, just like the Udumbara flower. The Dharma is also like that; it is difficult to hear the Dharma. Among the twelve divisions of scripture, it is even more difficult to hear the most extensive ones, so listen with one-pointed mind. Then, Bodhisattva Mahasattva Vaidurya Light, knowing that the World Honored One had granted permission to ask questions and would give teachings, said to the World Honored One: World Honored One, how can a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, by contemplating this Great Nirvana Sutra, hear what has not been heard? Then, the World Honored One
