Thus it happened. Ananda, what is the attendant wheel of the Tathagata? Ananda, the attendant wheel of the Tathagata is the Dharma, like this: the four mindfulnesses, the four right abandonments, the four miraculous feet, the five faculties, the five powers, the seven branches of enlightenment, and the eightfold noble path. Ananda, these thirty-seven factors of enlightenment are the great attendant wheel of the Tathagata. Whatever Shravakas the Tathagata has instructed therein, even the world with the gods cannot distinguish them. Why is that? Ananda, it is like this, the nature of this Dharma is such that even the world with the gods and Brahma, and the beings with ascetics and Brahmins, including gods, humans, and Asuras, and the great earth with Mount Sumeru, small circumferences, and great circumferences, even to pay homage to the relics of the Tathagata after complete Nirvana is not easy, let alone distinguish them? That is impossible. Why is that? Ananda, like this, the body of the Tathagata is indivisible, and the relics are also indivisible. Ananda, for the sake of compassion for sentient beings and to spread the teachings, the Tathagata, through past aspirations, blessed the relics to become as small as mustard seeds. Ananda, when the Tathagata was previously practicing the conduct of a Bodhisattva, he made the aspiration: 'After I attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, may the relics after my complete Nirvana increase.' Ananda, the relics of the Buddha Bhagavan increasing after complete Nirvana is also due to the power of past aspirations. Even at the time of complete Nirvana, those sentient beings who are to be tamed will see the Bhagavan, and for their benefit and compassion for sentient beings, the relics were divided, and the relics were blessed to be as small as mustard seeds. Ananda, the Tathagata is an Arhat,

When the perfectly enlightened Buddha enters complete Nirvana, how does he enter such a samadhi to bless the relics into mustard seed size for the sake of compassion for the world? Ananda, when all the joints of my body are separated and the relics are blessed into mustard seed size, there will be a feeling of suffering. Ananda, however, in order to guide those sentient beings and out of compassion, the Tathagata can endure the feeling of suffering, so that the people of the later lands will be guided by the path of happiness and virtue. Ananda, if someone offers flowers, incense, garlands, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, banners, flags, dances, musical performances, songs, and praises to the relics of mustard seed size, and respects, honors, serves, makes offerings, remembers, and prays to them, Ananda, the fruit of all these roots of virtue is Nirvana, and I say that it will eventually become Nirvana. Ananda, one hundred years after my complete Nirvana, in a place called Kukkutarama, there will appear a king named Ashoka, born into the Maurya dynasty, a righteous king of Dharma, and he will also have faith in my teachings. After having faith, he will also propagate my relics. At that time, he will build eighty-four thousand stupas of my relics in one day. Ananda, do not grieve, do not lament. Ananda, my relics will be propagated and will be vast and great for gods and humans. Ananda, let alone honoring the Tathagata, Arhat, perfectly enlightened Buddha who is now living. Let alone making offerings to the relics of complete Nirvana. Ananda, if someone, even in a dream, sees the stupa of the Tathagata and rejoices in their heart, Ananda, the fruit of that root of virtue is also Nirvana, encompassed by Nirvana, ending in Nirvana.

I will speak what is in your mind. Ananda, in the future, of all the Tathagatas, Arhats, Samyak-sambuddhas who will appear, there will be no Tathagata who will not proclaim my virtues. Just as I am now proclaiming the virtues of the past Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, so too will those future Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, fully proclaim my virtues. Ananda, whoever starts from my teachings, for those beings who are free from the dust of the eye of Dharma, stainless, and pure, Ananda, all those are the ones I matured when I was a Bodhisattva in the past, while practicing the conduct of a Bodhisattva. Ananda, the offerings made to the Sangha will be exhausted in the middle and will eventually change. Those offerings made to the Sangha of the four directions will also be exhausted in the middle and will eventually change. Ananda, those offerings made to the Pratyekabuddhas will also be exhausted in the middle and will eventually change. Ananda, those offerings made to the Tathagata will not be exhausted in the middle and will not eventually change. Ananda, the result of all those offerings is Nirvana, and I will say that ultimately Nirvana will be attained. Ananda, let alone personally attending to the Tathagata while he is alive. Let alone making offerings to the relics after he has completely passed into Nirvana. Ananda, if one throws a single flower into the sky with faith in the Buddha, that root of virtue cannot be easily measured or shown even by the wisdom of the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha. Ananda, if one fully examines the root of virtue done by throwing a single flower into the sky with faith in the Buddha, even if one wanders and revolves in samsara for as long as the kalpa in which the beginning is not visible, the complete ripening of offering a single flower to the Tathagata cannot be exhausted by the state of Brahma, Indra, or the kingdom of a Chakravartin. Ananda, otherwise, the virtue of
